Forgive me folks but I have not been here for awhile. My surgery date has been set for October 26th. With no complications between now and then this will be finally taken care of. The surgeon will be implanting the On-X Prosthetic Heart Valve. I have a leaking Mitral valve. Everything is set, now I have to wait a little longer. Have a good day everyone.

Bob, it's official - you're on the calendar for 10/26. We'll be sending official best wishes when the time approaches. Now I'll just wish you as much worry-free time as possible until then. The On-X is a very promising valve.

Glad you have a date, Bob and wishing you the best of surgeries and recoveries.

Setting the date is a milestone, so Congratulations! Waiting for OHS can be a bit preoccupying, so keep busy to take you mind off it. Use some time to prepare what you need for the hospital stay and for setting up your home for your recovery. It's a good idea to plan out how you may want to set up things at home to be more convenient during the early phase of recovery. You may find climbing stairs and reaching for things a bit challenging in those early weeks. Above all, take some time to have some fun and enjoy your friends and family. That always helps the time pass quickly. :)

Best wishes and good luck.

It is great to have a date!

Please feel free to ask us anything and everything as your big day approaches. I hope you have a plan for early recovery.....best to have someone around to help you out.

You will eventually be feeling so much better with the new valve.

Best wishes to you and keep us posted!

Bob, I remember when I set the date with the scheduler for my MVR. All was fine and it seemed so casual...more like making a hair appointment or something. I hung up the phone and sat there for a minute and shed a few tears then called my husband at work and told him we had a surgery date. Only then did it really feel real. It's been over 4 years ago and I still remember those feelings. I hope all goes well for you and that your surgery goes smoothly and your recovery complete. You will be in my prayers.

Thankyou

Thankyou

Thankyou to everyone for your replies and concerns. The surgeons office did call me and moved it up one day to Saturday the 27th of Oct. I can live with that. I will have some family members from out of town here to help me out the first couple of weeks. I have a daughter who lives here in Las Vegas so I'm pretty well covered. Thanks again everyone. I will keep in touch.

Bob
