Hi, I posted for the first time last week and at that time did not know when I would be having aorta valve replacement. Well I saw the cardiologist and surgeon yesterday and they both agree that I should not wait. So, I am having cardiac cath today and the surgery tomorrow.. I have decided to go with the tissue valve, it was not a really big decision for me as I do not want to be on coumadin and also I am almost 60. The surgeon said the calf's valves are lasting 15-20 years. I am nervous but almost felt a little relief, I am so tired all the time and also tired of worrying about it, as I know all of you understand.. Thanks so much for all of your responses to my post, I will try to have my husband let you know how I am doing...Rose

Hi Rose,
I put you on the calendar for surgery on Thursday and we wish you the best for then and for your cath today. At least you don't have a lot of time to get nervous and ponder the decision! Please try and have someone post for you- we worry!
Phyllis

Well, that's certainly short notice! You should do very well with your valve choice.

I'll be thinking of you today and tomorrow, as the cath is like a prelude to the whole thing. The'll keep you pretty busy with forms and ludicrous questions, so the time will pass fairly quickly.

Try to let go of the reins tomorrow, and leave things in the surgeon's hands. Your job is to sleep through it, and to bounce back when you wake up.

Best wishes,

Rose,

Best wishes for an excellent surgery and easy recovery. Talk to you on the other side of the mountain.

Hello Rose

Prayers are already done and you are included......Please have someone keep us updated.

You will feel so much better when this is behind you. That was Garys first notice after recovery that he wasn't so tired anymore!
Good luck and God Bless!
Christine

Rose,

I had a month to contemplate my surgery date, but I often wished I could have done it much quicker. It seems like you will be doing it the way I wished I could have.

Good luck and best wishes as you go through the heart cath and the surgery. I hope your husband will post so we can rest easy that you've come through the journey in good shape.

Rose,

Best of luck with your surgery... I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. Like you, my time was very short - had echo on a Monday, TEE & Cath on Thursday, cardio made appt for me to see surgeon on Friday & had surgery on Monday. I considered myself quite lucky... didn't have time to worry.

Cris

Thinking of you, Rose.

Thinking of you, Rose.

Hi Rose, Just wanted you to know that my thoghts are with you. I had the same surgery as you last October 2004. My Aortic valve was replaced with a mechanical one. It will be rough for a little while, but I can assure you things will get better. I feel so much better than I did before the surgery. I have more energy and no longer am panting for breath. Best wishes for a fast recovery. Sincerly, Phyllis :) :)
