Well, I saw my surgeon today and everything is a go. My surgery is now scheduled for Wed Aug 6, 2008. I will be getting an ON-X valve.

My surgeon is Dr. Cullen Morris. He is an Associate Professor at Emory University and until moving his practice to Athens Ga, he was on the transplant team. When asked how many valve replacements he had performed, he told me hundreds. Now, I just have to prepare my mind for this.

I will be explaining it to both of my kids on Thursday, so wish me luck.

I put you on the calendar so it's "official". You will do fine and we will be here to cheer you on!

Good to hear that you have a date. It will be here before you know it. I'll be thinking of you and here's wishing you well.

Good you don't have to wait very long. The wait really is the hardest part.
Wishing you the best.......

Thanks for all of the nice words. At this point, I am ready to have it done and begin to feel better than I do now. I know it will be a while, but at least the process can begin.

Eric

Good luck

Good luck

with your surgery. One week is not long to wait unless you're the one doing the waiting! Had my AVR on 7-21-08 so about 10 days out. The week before my surgery seemed to take forever, the time since has flown. I've found it very helpful to read what those who've had the surgery just before me have to say. Right now I feel like I'm riding Sheepdog's draft.:D

Sheepdog, if you read this, please keep posting. I like to know what's coming.
