Surgery is around the corner now, and thanks again for your help as I get ready. I had a heart MRI (tight squeeze) a couple of days ago. I am scheduled for an angiogram on August 3rd, and the big show (replace the aorta stem & valve-I think- on August 4th.

My daughter graduated from law school in June, had our first grandchild-daughter-June 10th, and starts day 1 of her 2 day bar exam today. I had to come up with something big to get a little attention around here! :)

I guess I will go with a mechanical valve & hope my experience with Coumadin is as benign as it has been for most of you who have been kind enough to share your experience. Just thought of another question-If I intend to buy a machine for home INR monitoring, how soon should I place my order, and does anyone have any advice about where to go to purchase it? Thanks.

I put you on the calendar for August 4th and we wish you the most successful surgery and the easiest of recoveries. Our daughter was going through her final exams for law school during Dick's surgery and yet found time to sit with me in the waiting room. We wish you the best and many years to enjoy your grandchild. :)

Call QAS; you can find the link to their information at the top of this page. I didn't buy from them (or anyone else), since my local coumadin clinic is so handy and helpful, but when I called QAS to look into getting my own unit, they were very helpful and patient in working with me.
