Freddie - I can only hope that I am able to get into and out of a regular bed when I return home. I sleep much better in bed. . . never was much of a couch potato.
Big disappointment this afternoon!!!! Dr.'s office called about 4:00 and cancelled my surgery for Monday. An emergency patient popped up and pushed my surgery back to March 4. Don't know how many times I could deal with this. No new heart on Valentine's day!! I fully understand the circumstances, but still, it's a let down. I'll keep you posted.

I have finally recovered from the disappointment of having my surgery re-scheduled. I have had some time to come up with some questions to ask the surgeon before the operation. I learned from the Physicans Assisant today that I my asending arorta is 4.6 and I will be having a replacement along with my AV. What does this mean to you seasoned veterans? He said that the stenosis has caused the aneurism. I believe I have read that 5.0 is the magic number for surgery on the aorta. Is this correct? He said that 4.6 by it's self would not warrant surgery, but as long as he is in my chest........
I have also learned, through the power of the Internet, that heart valves cost $4000 to $6000 ea., retail price. The PA confimed this and said " would you want the Caddilac model or the Mercedes model" I'll take Rolls Royce, please!!! Also, I'm getting ever slightly concerned about the 25% chance of Afib he mentioned after I quizzed him on it. He said medicine fixes it, no big deal. Comments??
Having the surgery postponed 2 weeks has given me way too much time for me to create a myrad of thoughts.
