Scheduled my surgery date today. As the title says, it's at the end of the month. I'm having the Ross Procedure performed by Dr. Koutlas at East Carolina University Heart Institute. Ready to get this over with....

It's not too far away. If it's anything like my experience, time will fly on by up until the last few days. (I've got 4 days until my surgery) A fast forward button would be nice wouldnt it?

Good luck. I had my Ross Procedure nearly 17 months ago and haven't looked back. Once you're through the first week or so, things get much better :)

Rest well and plan what you want to do with your renewed you after e surgery:)

Best of luck on the 30th. Will be praying for you while I am flying to D.c., hopin my prayers will reach heavens faster!

Thanks for the support y'all.

I'll be sure to try and keep things updated. Logistically, things are kinda complicated. My parents in Alabama will be having to travel here to North Carolina for my surgery. I will be granted a period of convalescent leave after surgery where I plan on returning back to my hometown in Alabama to recover and have some family around to help me out. It's not really practical to have my family come stay where I live since I live in a house with two other guys and there's no extra rooms for guests.

I'm just worried about possibly being back in AL and having something unexpected occur and needing to see any of the staff at the hospital before the follow up visit. I've got some time to figure it all out. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Between now and the 30th, I just plan on continuing to do what I have been. Working and continuing exercise at a tolerable level and trying not to think about it too much. The splitting of the sternum is something I'm having trouble getting off my mind though...haha.
