Hi everyone,
I'm a 43 year old male from Miami, FL.
I am upset with my past doctor. I mean I'm pissed off, if I could say that. I have been complaining about pains in the chest and lightheadedness. He told me to get some bloodwork done. The secretary said that she would call me if there was a concern. I took 5 blood tests and never received a phone call.
My sister who is a pharmaceutical rep told me to change doctors. I did and he had me test my blood at a lab. My cholesterol is 628, and my triglycerides are above 2400. I then took an echo which determined I have severe aortic stenosis of a bicuspid congenital defect. This happened this month. I immediately set up an appointment with a surgeon. I can't breathe well, faint, get pains in my chest, and I'M GOING TO FINALLY GET THE SURGERY. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

Read & learn is my advice, this site is a goldmine.

Make sure you discuss the ascending aorta and aortic root as well as just the valve, being bicuspid you are at risk of both of those failing as well as just the valve.

Even if it is only slightly dilated i'd get it replaced at the same time.

Good luck with the surgery.

Welcome and I am glad you started a thread in pre-surgery. Ask any and all questions between now and next Thursday. We wish you well and look forward to helping you over the mountain.

i am new on here myself, i only joined like 4-5 days ago and already everone on here has helped me out so much. Im so glad i found this site. Its a god send. But wow, your triglycerides are above2400, that is high. Last summer mine was 1800 and the doctors flipped out about it, i changed my diet and was put on lipitor and my triglycerides are way down now thank goodness. Let us know when you find out about surgery.
Good luck and take it easy, which is what everone on here said to me, and im doing just that, but sometimes im bad and and i push myself, but pay for it later.

i re read your post and saw you were having it january 24th. Duh LOL anyway, everyone here will help with any question you have. They have sure helped me.

the cardiologist told me that my cholesterol was the highest he has seen in his career, and I'm only 43. this group is definitely a big help, and will be my best friend up until the surgery. thanks for the support.
