Surgery Delay

Hello folks. My name is Bill and I am Michaelena's husband. Mic asked me to keep you up-to-date on her surgery until she can meet with you all again.

Mic was originally scheduled for a catherization yesterday and surgery today but everything was delayed a day because her clotting factor (not sure of the tech term) was too high and there was too much risk of bleeding. The doctors wanted the factor to come down on it's own while she was transferred from Coumadin to Hepparin, to aviod clots on her existing St. Jude mitral valve, but things went a little slow. They finally had to provide blood plasma to speed things up to aviod further delay.

Catherization went well today. Mic is ready. Surgery scheduled for 9am tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

I want you all to know how helpful you have been to Mic in her preparation for this re-surgary. She follows this site religiously. I also want to express my appreciation for your being there for her. God love you all.

Thanks so much for the update. Sorry the surgery was delayed but, obviously, her doctors are paying attention to what is happening.

Please give her our best. Be sure to take care of yourself as well.

Waiting is horrible. I'm glad they moved things along for her. She'll be in my thoughts tomorrow.
