I saw my doctor today. She said my incision looks good, no fever, heart rate is 65, BP is good. I am still not in pain and I am getting stronger each day. I did the stairs at my house several times and walked down the block.

Boy, your course is more benign than mine! Are you sure they actually did it? I woke up in the ICU after what seemed like a microsecond. I was completely awake and never had one iota of pain at all during recovery. If I hadn't been weak as a puppy for several weeks and have this 11", sometimes itchy souvenir, I would have to wonder. I'm glad it is going so well for you.

Now I am three weeks post op. I saw my doctor again today. I told her I thought perhaps the metoprolol was hindering my sleep. So she has cut that medicine out. Now I just take a low dose aspirin and 75mg of irbisarten. The really good news is she is letting me drive and go back to walking in the swimming pool!

Great news...great story...glad to hear about another uneventful recovery! I wish I had read more of these before my surgery. I assume they were out there and I was just focussing in on what could go wrong. I hope others in the waiting room will take note of your experience.

Great news! Keep posting your milestones. Everyone in the waiting room needs to hear about the good recoveries also. I am still going strong and it has been almost 4 years. My recovery memories have seemed to have faded but I know I feel 1000% better now than I did before my surgery. I guess when you start getting into middle age it is always easier to blame getting old than to pay attention to your body yelling at you with heart symptoms. All the best to you and all the new valve members.
