I wanted to get this thread started for Stuart. He's having the Ross procedure Wednesday, but I'm not sure where. Maybe Patti will jump in when she sees this and give us some more information.

Anyway, Stuart we will be thinking of you these last few days as you await the surgery. The wait is almost as bad as the recovery!

Good luck and may God speed you through your journey! :)

You will be in my thoughts and prayers until we hear that all is well. Good luck on Wednesday.

Best wishes Stuart for successful surgery and an uneventful recovery. We will eagerly await good news.

You're the Wednesday Guy. You will be in my thoughts Wednesday as well.

Once you're in this forum, you're never really as alone as you may have felt before. Of course, then you have to get rid of us so you can get some sleep.

Do well, Stuart. Just let go and let the surgeon and the nurses take the wheel for a while. It's yours again when you wake up.

Best wishes,

Wishing and praying for a very successful surgery for you Stuart. We will be waiting for the good news.

Hey guys and gals!! My lovely wife Patti started my membership with VR.com with my best interests at heart. I am a pretty even keel kind of guy, but to be completely honest, as this thing approaches on Wednesday, I find myself at a higher and higher anxiety level. I know that the procedure and everything will go well, and the recovery doesn't even phase me that much. It is the not being in control for the five hours during surgery, being hooked up to the heart lung machine and all the visuals that go with the procedure. I have not had any kind of surgery in my 40 years, so I really don't know what to expect. I am just relying on advice and experiences from friends for this whole adventure. I appreciate all your responses and Patti will let you all know how things went on Wednesday night. Thanks again, and talk to you soon. Oh, by the way, I am having the Ross procedure done by Dr.s' Bull and Hawkins at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. I enjoy chocolate, flowers and strip-o-grams....LOLOLOL. Thanks again, Stuart

Hey, Stuart, sometimes we don't have a choice - just have to let somebody else who knows the score take over. You will be fine - just don't sneeze afterward.

GODSPEED!

Stuart,
Your post reminds me of Dick- he had never been in the hospital for his 70 years and was oblivious to what it may entail- I think that helped a lot and he was very calm (or at least on the outside, he was :D ). Once you check in, things will go very quickly and all the "control" is left in the hands of the surgeon and his staff. I hope that the feeling of "calm" that Bob often refers to finds you tomorrow and that you have a successful and uneventful surgery and recovery.
Best Wishes,
Phyllis
P.S. Hope you get lots of chocolate- the hospital food stinks!

Stuart,

My first surgery was my Ross.

I can appreciate your anxiety. My wife was my rock before and after surgery. Use this time to reiterate how much she means to you. I can gurantee you, she's as nervous as you.

I'm wishing you the very best and hope to hear from you soon. I'm confident you in good hands and soon, this will all be just a memory.

Paul

you are going to do well so try not to over stress yourself. the 4 to 5 hours in surgery are the easiest part of the whole process for you...the 4 to 5 hours during the surgery are the toughest on the loved ones. but definitely keep up that sense of humor...it helps out tremendously with the recoery process. i tried to get the nurses to give me sponge baths...and tried to tell them that it was doctors orders for them to be topless...to keep the heart rate up...they did not buy it...but its worth a try...lol :)
