My question is 'what is Barry's real purpose for being in VR'? Most of us post an off-topic now and again, but Barry's are every day. Usually something most of us aren't even thinking about or are interested in.

Hello Friends...

This site exists so that folks who need VR surgery info will have a place to get it.

In case y'all haven't visited the main page lately = This is the main statement there.....

"Welcome to the rapidly growing support
site for those of us who have had,
and will have our lives affected by
Valve Replacement Surgery."

Well said, Hank!

A constitutional right to free speech does not mean VR.com has to suffer or allow content that is inconsistent with its mission. Too much stuff that is off-topic makes the site harder to use for its intended purpose of providing info. Stuff that is controversial, divisive and provocative threatens to undermine the sense of community that is essential to an effective support system.

I am way cool w/ Ross and Hank exercising their judgement in managing the forum. They do an awesome job.

I've got plenty of other places I can go to be a jerk...work, for example :) If I have to behave myself while I'm here, I can handle that!

SmallTalks New Description

Barry and All,

Here is the new description of the SmallTalk Forum:

"Small Talk"
Here is where you can discuss topics not covered by the other forums. Please be mindful of the fact that we are a medical support site for Valve Replacement Surgery."

My $.02...Keep the topics related to what this site is all about. Intentionally posting non-related, controversial threads that have no value other than to cause a stir is thinly veiled attention seeking. There are several other sites one can bomb if they like, but I would hope those personalities refrain from the thrill here, please. If one wants to stay within the realm of heart and health topics, then by all means, we welcome them to contribute. Most of us aren't in support of censorship, but Bill Cobit and Hank's posts describe exactly what we are about.
