Even an aging hippie former drug-fiend like myself will concede that there's a big problem with street drugs. What we're currently doing about it doesn't seem to be working. Some say all drugs should be legalized, some say only pot should be decriminalized, some say that criminal sanctions for street should be increased - others say that all that will do is increase street prices for illegal drugs, keep the criminal element involved, and have adulterated drugs being sold. Yet others say that our focus instead should be on providing treatment to addicts, and try to minimize the harm that drugs do instead of trying to prohibit them outright (e.g. much like we repealed Prohibition, but then established treatment programs for alcoholics and established laws prohibiting selling alcohol to minors, drinking in public, and drunk driving).

I'm actually more interested in hearing other folks' opinions than pontificating on my own: How do folks think we should deal with illegal drugs?

Lock the dealers up in a room and take away all their food and water.

Make the "Tazer" more powerful :D .

Honestly, and I know that is what you are really looking for, I just don't know what the solution is. It seems like we (meaning the Government and our Law Enforcement people) have tried everything but it still grows. Take one dealer off the street and two more show up. Our revolving door justice system doesn't help either. They are sometimes back on the street dealing even before the poor policeman can finish his paperwork. The one area I feel we have not put much effort into is the drug source. Stop it at its source either through economic or military means and it is not there for them to sell. Of course, at the other end is the user. Get them to stop (HOW--Billion Dollar Question) and dealers would not have a customer. The dealer just winds up as a middleman selling a product that has a demand. How many auto dealers went out of business when they stopped making a brand of car and people stopped buying them. Supply and demand is one solution, just how we get there is the question. Faith based programs have had a lot of success with both drugs and and sex, maybe that is an answer.

Whoever come up with the perfect solution should get big bucks.

May God Bless,

Danny

Did you move my post to another forum?!!

Did you move my post to another forum?!!

HEY ROSSMAN!!!

Don?t you dare be moving my posts to some other web site. If you want me to delete it, ask me, I will. But don?t get me involved in something without my consent.

I love ya, Rossman..... but this is just unacceptable to me.

If it gets deleted, the only thing you have to yell at is Hank! I'm only forwarning before it happens, so you can decide whether to get highly involved or not. I think it's becoming time for some rules that are going to be enforced be written so that there is no doubt about acceptable and unacceptable.

I wanna know if you posted my response to some other web site.

I wanna know if you posted my response to some other web site.

What I'm asking is........

Did you move my post to http://www.drugs-forum.com/ ??

Honey I do not delete anything, edit anything and only on occasion when something is in the wrong forum, do I move it and then I PM the author and leave redirects to where their post is. ;)

That link is entirely another forum in which you'd have to register just as you did here.

Okay, I apologize.

Okay, I apologize.

I guess I?m a little paranoid about the internet.

I don?t do illegal drugs and want nothing to do with an internet site that focuses on that.

Thank you, Ross. I thought it was a little wierd.

Problem with the thread that got deleted is that it carried with it a very strong implication that it was OK to do street drugs. I don't think there's any problem with discussing whether our current public policy regarding street drugs is adequate or not and, if it isn't, how it should be changed.

Administrators, if I'm wrong about that, my apologies in advance and please feel free to delete this thread.

That said, that also means that any responses to this thread really need to stay within the realm of public policy reform, and shouldn't get into endorsing illegal drug use (which I think is vanishingly unlikely for folks here to do, anyway).

Barry let me say this, no at this time, there is nothing wrong with your question, but should it morph into something else, then you know the story.
I'm apprehensive about this because of the last ordeal. Last thing we want is a bunch of unwanteds reading and joining only to have their say in these types of threads. I hope you understand where I'm coming from.

Hey,
We all take enough legal drugs, so lets leave the street drugs out of here. What is up with this all of a sudden?
Hank I hope you do your magic on these types of threads.
Take Care

Ross and Rain,

Thought for a minute there I was going to have to step in between you both like I have to when my dogs get to fighting :) . Actually I usually just spray them with the hose but don't think it would reach that far :D .

Ross, other than you (poor guy) and maybe Hank, everyone else can "turn off" a thread they don't like or not interested in. I admit the "drug" thread was, as I put it--DUMB!!! DUMB!!! DUMB!!! and I had some worries when I saw this one start up. Any written rules about what is allowed (other than cussin, swearing, and badmouthing each other or someone passing thru) would detract somewhat from what this site is all about. I find it refreshing and somewhat cleansing to get off "talking about our Heart" all the time. All sex makes Jack a dull boy, or something like that :D . We love you both for all you do. Whatever you both decide (other than removing the "LOCATIONS  ) we will live with.

We love Y'all men :) .

May God Bless,

Danny

Ross, agree with you entirely that if this somehow morphs into a druggie thread that it should be deleted.

fyrfyter, I can answer your question of why I'm bringing up street drugs. Same reason I brought up illegal immigration: The USA faces problems in a number of areas, wondering what folks around here think about some of the major issues. This particular forum is for "Small Talk", so it seemed like a good place to ask the question.

Barry and Everyone Else

Barry and Everyone Else

Hello Friends...

Ya gotta love a lively debate :D

I am caught between a rock and a rock here folks...

I want y'all to be able to talk about any topic you want.

I don't want to be "Mr. Deleter".

I did however delete the previous thread because I was getting complaints about it and I didn't see what value it had to the reason this site was created.

This site exists so that folks who need VR surgery info will have a place to get it.

In case y'all haven't visited the main page lately = This is the main statement there.....

"Welcome to the rapidly growing support
site for those of us who have had,
and will have our lives affected by
Valve Replacement Surgery."

It doesn't say::

"Welcome to the rapidly growing support
site for those of us who want to discuss pot,
meth, ice, crack, ecstasy, hash, bongs,
acid, cocaine and other street drugs and have had,
and will have our lives affected by
Valve Replacement Surgery."

This is pretty much how I work it.

I let the forum run and people post what they wanna post.

If I get complaints about a thread or a user, I evaluate that post and/or that user for myself. If I feel that they add value to the site, I ignore the complaints. If I feel the user and/or posts do not add value to the site, I delete them! It's fairly simple..

So, to make a short story long - Keep it on the topic for which this site was created or I will be obligated to go into evaluation mode which I would really rather not do...

If my method of administration seems a little harsh, I do not apologize. With 1200 members and more every day, we have to operate in a simplistic manner and this method is what VR.com deems effective at this time.

Thanks folks.....

 Party On

Danny

Yeah well she didn't click the smilie or the shocked smilie in my signature. I'd show her who is boss. :D

Speak for yourself Jack! :D

Hank,

Post #18 was really meant for you, but "speedie fingers" Ross jumped in between (just like I offered to do between him and Rain).

And who is this guy Jack anyway? He's almost as bad as "Johnson" T-Shirts in Florida.

May God Bless,

Danny

Hank, seeking some clarification of the rules:

Was it OK to bring this topic up, even though it's not related in any way to valve replacement? Perhaps I'm taking too literally: "Small Talk: Here is where you can say whatever you like whenever you want to say it." But it seems to me that topics that are related to valve replacement really don't belong in "Small Talk", but belong in one of the other forums.

So I'm bringing up some topics that I think are interesting, that I'm wondering what folks around here think about, that have absolutely nothing to do with valve replacement (e.g. illegal immigration, just posed a thread asking what folks think of gun control). There's some interesting folks on these forums and I'm curious about their thoughts on a lot of things.

Again, I am in complete agreement that if this (or any other thread) gets into endorsing illegal activities or becomes a "how-to" thread for illegal activities, that it should be deleted - and that anyone who does that should be banned. For example, in my thread seeking an international perspective on illegal immigration, if that had morphed into a thread on the easiest ways to sneak into the USA and the best sources of phony passports and fraudulent green cards, that thread would need deletion.
