Bryan,

You are welcome :).

I'll be in Nashville either the week before or the week after the weekend of June 12-13.... That'd be cool to meet for lunch or dinner sometime :).

almost there

almost there

Saw the cardiologist today and he scheduled a cath and ask me how I felt about the surgery and I told him I didn't want to have it. He said even though it seemed like a scary thing it was the best thing for me. So I guess I will be haveing surgery scheduled after cath. Asked if it would be a repair or replacement and he said he will leave it up to the surgeon. My damaged valve is the front one, and he said they usually replace those. So, is St. Jude the best and will I get to pick it?

Blake,

Valve selection is a very personal choice. I would do some reading on the "valve selection" forum, and when you meet with a surgeon discuss your options with him/her. They will probably have their own favorite, so if you are set on a certain type you may want to choose a surgeon that has lots of experience using the valve you decide on. Everyone is scared when they find out they need surgery. Just take one step at a time and feel free to vent and share your fears with us. That's what we're here for.

Knightfan,

Sounds like a plan. Plenty of great restaurants here. Just let me know something a little bit ahead of time. I work on West End Ave, lots of good eats in that area. :)

Blake,

As Bryan said...take it one step at a time. You never know what the cath might or might not show, so take a deep breath (yeah, I know...easier said than done) and relax (also much easier said than done).

Bryan,

Holy cow! West End Ave? I know that road well, as I traveled it much when I was in Nashville in September 1996 looking for work. Unfortunately, I had to come back home after not finding a job.... But, always get to Nashville at least once a year and still have intentions of moving to Nashville "someday"...LOL! Funny thing is, I've lived in the Chicagoland area all of my life (except for college and the month in Nashville), yet I can get around Nashville better than I can Chicago...! It is a small world ;).

Blake - my bro-in-law in Ok City has answered me. He had his OHS in 2000 as follows:

Went to Baptist Hospital Dr. Scott Lucas. The very best. He is now with the
Oklahoma Heart Hospital, 4050 West Memorial Road Oklahoma City 73134
Telephone (405) 608-3800
He has done about 5,000 open heart surgerys.
