Well, I am sure you all have been checking in every 10 minutes all day to see when Superbob has posted a new Staying the Course thread (or maybe not). Sorry, I could say the dog ate my homework, but the sun fried my brain would be more like it. The heat is deadly today. Oh for some nice showers to cool things down -- but those seem to happen only wherever 'my' Cardinals are playing baseball.

I have been riding the exercise bike and working out in the community pool some -- entirely too hot any time of the day to walk good ol' Sadie. When she goes outside to do her business, she often stumbles nowadays -- breaks my heart, But she still has her joy of life -- wants to play every night after dinner time. Tries to keep up with Dasher the Wonder Dawg, the 5-year-old lab (Sadie is working on 15)....She's amazing. I hope when fall weather returns, we can have some more good walks together.

My eating hasn't been too terrible this week, though I was just at CVS and stumbled upon a can of whole cashews on sale for 3 bucks and change. I've started eating them and that means I can't stop eating them. No willpower when it comes to cashews or potato chips. Finally I confiscated them from myself and put the can high up in the cabinet hoping to forget it's there. At least for a while. And I will try to cut back on supper calories to compensate for some of my cashew eating.

Okay, what's going on with all of our merry gang? Any new exercise routines or nutritional plans or excursions or anything you'd like to share?

Love to hear from you all --- it's a great day in South Carolina!

I'll be a pal, Superbob, and let you send the cashews to me. No thanks necessary! My exercise routine is called "Household Chores 101". It's not fun, but it is necessary. We're here for another week and then head to The Land of Pie. Others call it the Dairy State, but obviously they've never stopped at Norske Nook for one of their 98 varieties of pie. I hope to lose a pound or two so I can put them back on later.:)

Had a nice salad for lunch the other day. Cashews were one of the ingredients. I didn't finish the salad but I did search out all of the cashews and eat them :) It's been a quiet week here at the seashore. The weather has been spotty with some days filled with sunshine but others cloudy and cool. We have seen reports of dangerous Portugese Man o War in the waters off of Fire Island so we have to be on the lookout when we go swimming. Have a great weekend all.

I use to work with a guy who made the traditional pecan pie but instead of pecan he used cashews. Absolutely one of the best things I have ever eaten.

I'm low carbing it and doing pretty well with it. Lean meat, lots of fish and wonderful SC produce.

Peace out

I, on the other hand, took the Missus to a fine Carolina roadhouse for lunch today (purely to please her, understand) and had an oyster-and-shrimp po' boy -- more than my normal rations for lunch but I did pedal the exercise bike hard for 30 minutes this afternoon. (Some cashew pie would have been a mighty fine dessert -- there being none on the menu, I skipped dessert.)

Anyone watching the baseball All-Star Game in Cincinnati tonight? The Home-Run Derby last night was actually exciting -- with a new, timed format and home-town hero Todd Frazier winning it all. Play ball! Go National League!
