Staying the Course -- 10/08/2018

Howdy, folks. Here's to a great new Staying the Course Week!

Seems we may be affected by Hurricane Michael if it hit the Florida panhandle, then slides up this way. Hopefully it will continue to be as fast mover and not linger and dump tons of rain, bringing historic levels of flooding as Florence did.

I'm getting ready for our annual community Heart Walk on the 20th, Because of spinal stenosis, it's get tougher and tougher to do the full course each year, but I hope t stay the course. There is the option of trying back surgery; however, in the back of my mind is the possibilty I'll have to have a heart valve re-do at some point. Don't want surgeries front and back to deal with.

So I'm back to workout class. Life is good.

Hi SB - I see it's very quiet here so wanted to say "howdy" to you and hope you're not affected by Hurricane Michael too badly. DH and I are very busy here with DS's studio flat (appartment in American speak) that he'll be moving into at the end of October. Went to measure up today, such a lovely little flat. Also busy with social care support DS will get - along with our support too.

Hi guys. The video makes me want to get up and dance! Looks like a great group. Bet you just love it HB.

Not much going on here. Just starting to make some plans to head to AZ and escape this cool northwest weather. No snow here yet. My youngest grand baby turns one in a couple weeks so would like to stay and see her on her big day.

Have been working on some small indoor projects lately and may try my hand at a scrollsaw in next couple days. Trying to keep all fingers intact, mind you.

I got drawn into HB's video. I'd love to be there, but I'd be tempted to clown around. Makes me want to set up a YouTube channel. It's the simple things, innit? I went for a walk and met a dog called Phillip. Made my day. Phil likes to socialise, says his human, as he almost bowls me over.

Gee -- that looks like my DW's line dancing routines do, but her groups' don't sound that way! IIRC, line dancing gained its popularity of late in the Country and Western bars. I'm used to hearing the twangy guitars and story lyrics of the C&W songs of the 70's, 80's and 90's. Still great fun for me to watch, but with all my back issues, I dare not try to dance (to say nothing of the difficulty I would have trying to remember any of the longer routines. . . )

SB - I do hope you can skate past this storm system. There have been so many storms this year. When the East Coast of the Gulf regions get storms, we here in the Upper Rust Belt seem to get endless strings of cloudy days and rainstorms. This year, it seems that it has rained every day or two from late August through now. The gardens are so soaked that we can't walk in our yard without sinking into the mud. It is hard to keep the driveways and basements dry, too.

I'm kind of staying in this evening. Got my annual flu shot, along with the second of two pneumonia shots today. Kind of makes me a bit lethargic. I'll have to wait to see if it is better or worse tomorrow.

We spent half of September in Massachusetts - partly touring and partly visiting our daughter and her family. Now we're home, trying to rest up from it in time for the October junket. Later this month we are going to the re-built resort at French Lick Springs. This is the re-creation of a super-grand 1900's resort that was built on the site of a hot sulfur spring. Bathing in its water was believed to have medicinal qualities at the time. It had its ups and downs over the decades and eventually was closed. Some few years ago, it was completely rebuilt, including its luxurious spas, recreational facilities and dining rooms. It is patterned after turn-of-the-20th-century luxury resorts in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Plans for the rest of the year are still up in the air, but since we are empty-nesters, we will find something to do for fun.
