Come to Oklahoma for Spring!

Come to Oklahoma for Spring!

View attachment 8912

Living in Oklahoma, one of the trade offs for a hot summer is an early and usually long springtime. This weekend, the daffodils and crocus are blossoming, the maples and elms are blossoming, the tulips are about 7" high and now the star magnolia are in blossom. Many of the birds are back. The mockingbirds and robins have returned, rather to the dissatisfaction of my Tonks. Due to past "unpleasantness" the cats live in no doubt that the mockingbirds really really hate them. The downy woodpeckers and cardinals live here the year round but they are becoming very active and are visiting the feeders every few minutes. I just noticed that my Great Grandmother's peony is poking through the soil. The plums and apricots are probably still a couple weeks away from blossoming. On the whole, a nice time to be here in Tulsa. Now, if we only had a seacoast.

"We got 4 inches of snow today......to cover the buckets of rain we had yesterday which froze overnight.
NOT"
I know it may be difficult to believe, but never seen snow!!!! It would be to cold for me....In photos it's a great sight.

living north of Florida is just awful in winter. This year I have not been so cold since we lived 5 yrs in Baltimore! Went to Fla part of this/last month and it was soooo wonderful. sometimes you can go home again! and then come back home.

Here is Missouri, we had quite a feww good snows this winter. More of the cold blasts coming in a bit. Can't wait for the warmer weather to come. Tired of being inside.

I'm with Cris - Bring it on! Spring will always be my favorite time of year. The weather gets nice and we still have the entire summer and fall to enjoy what we've started.

I'm with everyone....bring on the warm weather!!

Over 3 weeks ago we had +5C (41F) weather, snow was melting, then within 12 hours the temperature dropped to -21C (+5F) and along came the wind with more snow - the real feel was around -35C (31F) or colder and that lasted for 3 weeks.

We have snow that is almost 4 feet high and I'm not talking about snow banks. The snow banks are closer to 6 feet high. Now that some weather is in the forecast flooding is now a concern.

This weeks challenge is to remove the snow away from the back of the house and move it to the front - anyone want to come help?? Bring your wheel barrel.

The cherry trees are in bloom in California, they look awesome !!!! You can still see snow on the mountains, up in Yosemite, but the valley is blooming every where...... blue skies, so much better than Winter grey. I love Spring, because it means fresh .......STRAWBERRIES, Yippie !!! They usually open the road side stands, around the first week of April. I think ,I may be able to shop for strawberries on my way home, when released from my surgical stay. Now, that is a very pleasant thought.....
( Declines the offer to BYO..WB, ...... I shoveled snow in Chicago, within the last 4 years....funny, living in Germany, 10 years of my childhood, and I loved the snow, but as an adult, when I had to drive in it, I hated it ! First time I smiled outside, the Chicago wind, with it's minus chill factor, froze my lips to my front teeth...! ) Waits patiently to see , what Greg a. will come up with....for Winter and Summer........
