I have been quietly reading lately - but hopping back in to post. I may be joining the ladies on June 28th, I have been kidding that will be my date and that I will need to go in on the 27th to do the cath procedure etc as the 27th is my step-son's birthday. It was funny to hop on line and see that it is a popular date!

I guess something is in the air for June!? Or - just a lot of newbies finding this site. That's a great thing!

I will find out the actual schedule tomorrow (6/17) and frankly can't wait!

GREETINGS! I'm one of the ones scheduled for the 28th! I've been reading and surfing quite a bit. I've run out of questions and am just agonizing over the wait and trying to get anything physical done before going in. I'm praying for a miracle that the surgeon will be able to repair the AV but statistics aren't good for AV repair. Hopefully the statistics are slanted toward those with stenotic AVs. Mine has been termed as moderately regurgatative.
I would be one of the newbies that just found the site after I found out that surgery was needed soon.
I talked to a by-pass guy at work today that told me one of our managers just had quintuple by-pass and was back to work two weeks out from his surgery date.
Is by-pass surgery less traumatic than valve replacement or anneurysm graft work? Both involve sawing the chest open!?

Glad you found the site

Glad you found the site

The 28th seems soon and yet too far away huh? The recovery time for any heart surgery depends so much on 1) what is done 2) along with health going in... I must say I have never heard of anyone with true open heart bypass back at work in 2 weeks. Very likely to have been someone who had a procedure done in a cath lab and did NOT get opened up. And, very likely someone who was crazy

I will hope for AVR repair for you - but no, I am told, not likely - especially if anything else is wrong. I was hoping for repair as well, but mine is too cone shaped.

In reading this forum - did you find any good list of "to do's" for pre-surgery? My husband asked for a "spouse list" as well so I may go to that forum tonight to look.

The first time I got to this site, I came across a thread with an excellent "to do" list. I don't remember the name of the thread and I haven't been able to find it again.
