That's it, no more oil for you...Keep your snow, surgeries are being cancelled in Edmonton because the ICU beds are full from all the snow shoveling heart attack victims. I cannot get a date for surgery, doctors do not need another snow day!

Yeah - I'm sitting here in Chicago with a cath scheduled for Thursday AM and a lot of snow coming here between now and then. Don't know if I'll be able to get there, as our street is one of the last plowed in the city.

Hey Steve, go today and camp out at the hospital ;)

No snow here, but it's -22F not including the windchill which is about -40F

Freddie - If I go today, they'll charge me for the room. That is probably the most expensive hotel (with the worst food) in the area. No hotels near them, either.

Guess I'll just have to see what the fall-out is on schedules.

Hey Greg, I like the remote controlled snow blower franchise idea. Just need to put a camera on it and away you go.

Man, we've got about 2 inches of ice (frozen solid sleet) on the roads. Dallas doesn't get much snow, but we get ice storms. The Steelers and Packers sure brought the weather with them. Jet says it's too cold to stay out any longer than absolutely necessary. 19 degrees with windchills at or below zero. We may be socked in for a couple days until the wind evaporates the stuff on the roads. It won't melt.

I was telecommuting this morning, but a few minutes ago lost the server connection to the office. The only way I know to reconnect it is for someone to physically reboot the system. Of course no one could or should risk their life to get to the office today... or maybe even tomorrow. Obviously the home internet connection is fine, but the office one is iffy, frequently. Sigh. I've brought home 2-3 days of work but can't even get the priority stuff done. Cuss Cuss Cuss.

Laurie:
I lost traction at one point on eastbound Interstate 30 on the west side of downtown Fort Worth. Couple of vehicles had stalled on an incline, which forced me to stop and that's when I lost traction. When I could, I was able to back up, then scoot over and literally slide between 2 stalled vehicles and then roll on to work. Another employee who lives near me said those stalled cars triggered a 5-mile backup -- luckily I came upon it as it had started.
I brought an overnight bag (I always keep one packed for cat-related trips), a change of clothing, a sleeping bag, an eggcrate camping pad and a blanket -- just in case. I work for a newspaper and when weather's bad like this, mgmt often polls employees to see who is vitally needed and who can stay overnight at the company's expen$e. They did that a few minutes ago -- but the problem is IF they can find any rooms available downtown, what with it being Super Bowl Week. The Steelers are staying at one of the hotels downtown here, and lots of fans are too. ESPN is esconced in Sundance Square, just 3 or 4 blocks from my desk.
That's why I brought my sleeping bag, eggcrate pad!!!!!!!!!

I just got word that I will be staying in downtown Fort Worth tonight -- in the next block at a private, prestigious club, The Fort Worth Club. The FWC has several floors with law practices, private banks, CPA firms, etc., and one floor with hotel rooms for members and another floor with several dining rooms. I've eaten there many times and it's w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l.

This storm is affecting 33 states! We're suppose to get down to the single digits by tomorrow night! Can you believe that....in sunny New Mexico?! Outrageous!

It was snowing very lightly about an hour ago, but not enough to stick. The temps are dropping dramatically though. Already have enough wood stockpiled to burn in our little wood heater. I love the aroma of burning firewood!!! :) And the best part, I don't have to venture uptown anymore for the rest of the week!!! Yay!

Well, the USA continues to steal our snow this year. ;)
Tomorrow we are expecting 10-15 cm which is about 4-5 inches.
No big deal at all, BUT the wind is going to be nasty and will cause white outs.
Hubby works close enough to ride a snowmobile in if needed, but I bet he stays home anyway. Especially if I show him
the clips of the r/c snowplow. That'll keep him busy.

We had abt 3 hours of sleet last night, and it's been sleeting for another couple hours this afternoon. Winter storm warning here doesn't expire until 7pm TOMORROW!

All the precip has stopped here in N TX, but the roads still are awful. I don't think I'll be able to make it the 25 miles in to the office in the morning. Lots of schools have already cancelled for tomorrow.

But really, Marsha, I don't envy you the hotel stay, even with great food. If I'd somehow made it to the office, I'd be staying at my boss' house tonight. I like him and his wife, but, no thank you. The TV news had hours of video of the poor folks who went to work this morning and were trying to get home...or maybe they were still trying to get to work at 5 pm!

I still don't have connection to the office network. My boss somehow got back on the system (of course, he lives about 6 blocks away, so that may have something to do with it). He emailed me some docs this evening, which I finished after downloading the necessary software, but am having trouble getting back to him. The office email is only sending, not receiving, it seems. And the client is ill, so it's a rush/crisis job, to boot.
ARGHHHH.

Link below is very funny, all the expense of our good Canadian winter friends to the East...First post was the wrong link.
