I checked in w/ my youngest sister today about her scheduled hip joint replacement next week and found out it's on hold. She's having biopsies done tomorrow for cancer.

I'm not sure I digested everything she said, but it appears that she has mucosal carcinoma. She had had biopsies of some type about 18 months ago, and it was inconclusive. She had some pre-op tests yesterday for her hip surgery and got hit with a sledge hammer. Dr. called her at 8 a.m. today and got her into a specialist at 10:15 a.m. today (wow!!!!). I asked her if it's malignant, and she said yes. She was fighting not to break down on the phone.

Nancy is my "6-year twin" -- she was born on my 6th birthday. She's had numerous health problems since 1998 -- lupus, rhematoid arthritis, numerous joint replacement surgeries, IBD (from the lupus), etc.

Our parents don't know yet, at least not that it's cancerous.

Please say a few prayers for her. Right now I'm very numb..... I told her I would pray for her that the doctors can determine a plan for taking care of this.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Gosh, what a terrible thing. I am so sorry. But there are many chemos now that can knock it out.

May God watch over her and keep her safe.

Nancy:

That's what I'm hoping for. I can't remember what type of specialist she saw today, but I'm thinking it was an oncologist. I was driving home from work when I called her (love my blue tooth & voice tags!).

My sister has a lot to look forward to in 2010: Her son will get his Ph.D. in computer engineering on his 25th birthday, and he & his fiancee (also a Ph.D. candidate in comp sci) will get married next October.

I hope conquering this will also be part of 2010......

So sorry to hear these awful news Marsha. I can well imagine as can anyone here who has gotten news such as these on a loved one, how shocking & painful that can be!

But God is awesome & I pray that your sister will respond well to whatever treatments are offered.

Sincere best wishes that things get under control for your dear "twin". It hurts to read about her ailments. Praying for rapid progress and recovery.

Marsha, I'm sorry to hear the news about your sister and will be keeping her, you, and the entire family in my prayers. There are so many successful treatments for cancer now. LINDA

Dear Marsha, My hopes and prayers are with your sister, and all your family. Brian
