Our librarian goes ape, too, if we don't get our stuff back in and she doesn't have health issues, so you most definitely are entitled.
No one seems to understand that when they wait till the last minute to do what they are supposed to do, it puts off the librarian being able to do what she needs to do. Teachers want to be able to leave at the first possible moment they can on that last day of school, yet they don't realize that they are holding the librarian past that point by waiting. I cannot finish my job until they turn in their materials. Doesn't matter if I have everything else done, I'm not allowed to leave until they do their part. But my wanting to get out of there does not effect their life, so it doesn't faze them that they are messing with mine... Oh, well. It will be like this every year, I just moved my stress date up 2 weeks because of the surgery.

Thanks, everyone, for letting me vent. I'm doing pretty well now. The video race was a blast, and I know I only have to go to work one more day before we leave. I'm trying my best to just let it go. I'll prepare what I need to for the sub and if teachers don't get their stuff turned in, I'll just hand over a list to the principal and she can deal with it. I'm just not going to worry about it (or at least, I'm going to try not to). I'll let you know after school tomorrow how well I succeeded... ;)

Well, we've arrived safely in Rochester, MN. Today I have several appointments, then we're going to go see Pirates this evening. Tomorrow will be the surgery, though they haven't given us a time yet. I'll let you know...

And just for the record, I thought I'd let you know that postponing the surgery was TOTALLY worth it... We made it to finals in the Video Race! :D Now we just have to make it back to Dallas by Tuesday so we can see our movie up against the other finalists. We may actually have a shot at winning this year! That would totally go against the luck I've had so far in 2007, but it sure would be a nice change of pace. ;)

If you want to see our video (or even the ones from previous years), you can go to my hubby's web site and click on "movies." http://www.smokingcrayolas.net/

Woman my prayers are with you this time around. Between you and I, I think we've had enough for just about everyone on earth a couple times over.

Yes, winning the video contest would be nice change of pace. Hope it is so.

What? Are you telling me ther weren't last time? ;)

I agree whole-heartedly (pun not intended, but accepted. ;) ).

I've decided it probably wouldn't be a good idea to hold my breath... ;) But my hubby seems to think we have a decent shot, as well as some of the people who got to see it Tuesday night when we advanced... We shall see. I just hope we get to be there!

Thanks for your words of encouragement.

Of course my prayers were with you last time. I simply question whether they're heard at times.

Hee, hee. I sometimes feel the same... I think this time, though, we just didn't think to pray "Please let the leads stay in place 4 weeks after the surgery is over and I'm feeling great..." Funny how we forget these things. ;)

I'm thinking this time around I'm going to cover all my bases. Let's see: "Please, Lord, let the surgery and recovery go well, have the leads stick like glue in the correct places, help me remain infection free, and please, Lord, don't allow me to be struck by lightning or fall in a well..." Think that's enough, or are there some other possiblities I'm not thinking of? ;)

What was the problem? I will let Nathan know. Could you not find the movie or just couldn't get it to load? Do you have Quicktime on your computer? I think that's what it uses, but I could be wrong...

Niki,

Glad you had some fun before your hospital visit. Hope all goes perfectly and you can get back for the judging. It's long past time for your luck to become really good.

Please take care.

Niki,

Glad you are safely in MN. GOOD LUCK! Thoughts/prayers continue coming your way, of course.

Hope you win that contest, too :).

WE will be praying tomorrow!

WE will be praying tomorrow!

WE hope and pray everything goes smoothly tomorrow. We will be thinking of you, looking for that update. Much love. J.

Well, it's bright and early Friday morning (actually, it's dark and early, but you get the idea...). I've washed with the special soap (much different than any I've had to use before. It was liquid and red!), and now I'm just waiting on Nathan to get his lazy butt out of bed and into the shower. Guess if he doesn't get moving I can walk over without him (we're staying in a hotel directly across the street from the hospital). Wish I was as calm as he apparently is...

Niki,
I totally get what you are saying. I am a teacher and was out for 6 weeks this winter for my AVR. This time of year normally stresses me out, but add health issues and I am close to tears on a regular basis. I am one of those teachers who can't find everything from the library. I am trying, but with a long term sub and 6 other teachers trying to help me, things are scattered. Plus, working in a building with the majority of the staff being women is very hard.
I have a child who needs be retained (he should have never ben promoted this year) but the parents are blaming my absence for his weaknesses.
Life is hard. Our health issues s---. But, "It is what it is". I think the most important thing to do is focus on what is good in our lives. We're alive. We have people who care about us and it's a beautiful sunny day.
