When you have a cold or sinus problems, it is very important to keep the soft tissues moist. Please all of you, get a moisturizer for your home and/or your bedroom. Drink plenty of water - juices are good but water is always best (along with juices). Fluid, fluid, fluid. Very important.

If your soft tissues dry out they are subject to infectious things.

I talked to a pharmacist, and told him what I take and my whole history and he said antihistamines are good for colds too, and it's safe for heart patients. Try Clarinex or benedryl. They work!

hi gina!
i'm so sorry you have this infection. i would start the antibiotics immediately.
i had such a full blown infection in january that they had to give me extremely strong antibiotics and they did my stomach in (i'm still noticing lingering effects ). i would start them now and knock it out of your system asap.
thanks for the zicam recommendation. i just got it and will try alternating it with the nasalcort ( i am not one to take too many prescription meds unless i have to).

perry,
i am also looking forward to finally meeting you this weekend.
about the nasalcort aq... joey is an awful snorer and i am an extremely light sleeper_ what a team!!!
the e.n.t. suggested he try this first and if it doesn't work may want to perform this procedure in which he injects the soft upper palate of the mouth ( i am totally against any invasive measures, despite joey's insistence).
the nasalcort aq works most of the time. if joey's had a few drinks, however, nothing helps!!
it works primarily the first 3-4 hours after he uses it (right before bed) so i can get to sleep and hopefully stay that way.
it's certainly worth a try.

andrea,
i'm glad you are taking antibiotics. they should start to work soon.
that was so funny about the sinus wash!!!! a friend of mine recommended doing steam inhalation using tea tree oil drops in the hot water... i have not tried this yet, but it sounds soothing.

and to all,
hope you all stay healthy this winter... no colds, etc.

Nasonex!

Hey, are you guys gonna kick me out of the reunion since I haven't had surgery yet, (and who knows when or if I may)?

Bonnie!!! Just caught your post. Those mints are sooooooo strong they make me sneeze without the cold!

Thanks, I am doing much better tonight.

Janie,
Your Daddy's recipe almost makes me look forward to getting a cold! Although a hefty shot of whiskey would probably make me wake up 2 mornings later.

Karlynn

almost forgot...
medtronic's recommendation, flonase, is also good for allergies/cold symptoms. my daughter uses it.

janie,
wonder if our dad's knew each other... our family was on a trip about 20 years ago and i caught a nasty cold. my dad insisted that i have a cognac with lemon juice. boy, did that do the trick! i slept like a log!

vicks vaporub anyone???? i love that stuff. joey hates it! hahaha

Vicks VapoRub..
