I went to an orienteering event yesterday to watch and ended up doing one of the courses. You had to get as many checkpoints in 30 minutes. The course was in a small park with lots of trees and short steep slopes. I took it easy and walked the hillls and jogged the rest. It was probably about 2 miles overall and was really good fun.

That must be gaining in popularity. I recently saw a number of them posted in my area. Not that it's new, there has been a local orienteering club for decades but their meets seem to be getting more publicity lately. Some are very easy. I've gone running through a park where I saw preteen kids in the hunt. Others I've seen posted are in areas a goat would avoid.

We were in an orienteering club many years ago. My husband was a natural at the sport, but my performance was lackluster. It is a great family activity, and I'm glad you gave it a shot, Martin.
