I did not, Lyn,

My cardio is a bit chubby (but cute) and his opinion in general about diet pills, etc. was if any of these are safe, he would have used them himself.

Personally, I think all these should be banned...they hurt in a way or another, and I do not believe anymore anything advertised on TV.

Well that's why I was asking about sensa, supposedly it does not have any of the things like diet pills, you sprinkle it on everything you eat and supposedly it triggers something in your brain threw your nose that makes you think you are full. I usually don't pay attention to most diet claims, but HSN has pretty strict legal about what they can and con't say (they have a delay and block things that don't meet the legal standards)

Lyn, I read about Sensa and have a few thoughts. My problem with weight management isn't the meals that I eat - or even the size of those meals. For me it is the snacking and grazing in between. From what I read briefly about Sensa is that you sprinkle it on your meals and it heightens the taste, supposedly "tricking" your brain to make you think you are full.

Maybe for those who sit and eat huge dinners it would help, but since I am an emotional eater (boredom, stress, etc) I don't think it would work for someone like me.

I recommend "You on a Diet" by Drs. Roizen and Oz. I'm working my way through it and have found lots of good information and I've found it very motivating. It's also helping to explain why I may be full, but don't feel like I am and can snack and graze without feeling full.

Good luck!!

Thanks, That's kind of how I understand it, but you put it on everything you eat that isn't liquid (snacks, ect) I'll look into the book, but for some reason not a big Oz fan, the main problem is it's not for me and I don't think i can get DH to read it (hmm maybe I can sneak a taped version while he sleeps lol)

Saw this in an article about Sensa (developed by Dr. Alan Hirsch of the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation)

Before you rush to get buy the Sensa product, consider the cost: it is $210 for six months supply. It is rather pricey for weight loss products. While the concept of Sensa Sprinkle Diet sound intriguing, you can't help but wonder if you will gain all the weight back if you stop using Sensa sprinkles. In addition, Dr. Hirsch said that the long term effects and safety of Sensa diet haven't been study yet.

I am skeptical of any easy fix.

............
it triggers something in your brain .........makes you think you are full.

Lyn, One doctor a long time ago, when I was even thin but wanted to be thinner, told me: "diet pills will only give a message to your brain that you are full...why don't you send that message to your brain, yourself, and avoid the side effects."

Are the ingredients mentioned anywhere? I personally tried Meridia last year which is supposedly very safe and it worked, but I won't anymore use anything after my surgery...I hope to continue my recovery well and exercise the extra weight off!

I'm guessing it will probably have the same effect as a nicotine patch has for smokers. It may cut the actual food cravings, but leave the habits in place. Unless eating patterns are going to change with the use of it, when someone stops using it, I'm guessing they'll gain weight again.

What I'm gleaning from Oz's book (and it is kind of written in a cutesy way that can be a bit annoying) is that there are so many physiological and psychological things that inter-relate that it's not just about whether you eat too much, but what chemicals are being triggered and why.
