Hi David....

Hi David....

I just wanted to chime in and welcome you to this awesome site and as you have already found out, the people on this web site are really terrific and a wonderful source of strength and courage. I want to also let you know that I am about your age (I am 39) and I also have 4 leaky valves and Cardiomyopathy (Heart Muscle Disease) and Congestive Heart Failure, and I just want to let you know that I am EVERY bit as scared as you are, and what I do to cope is try and use humor as much as possible, and I feel totally at ease when I am talking with all the others on this website...Please know that you can PM me if you need to and please know that you are not alone in this journey. Please take care and I wish nothing but the best of care for you as you go through this. Harrybaby:D :D :D :D

David,

Let me second Georgia's recommendation for a recliner (or at least a really comfy chair) I wasn't able to sleep in a bed for about two weeks after my surgery and I was lucky enough to find a great chair right in my hotel room. Even now, almost three weeks post op, I still can't lay flat on my bed -- I have a pillow mountain built on top of it.

So make sure you get that recliner -- it'll make a HUGE difference!

Take care,
Joe

It is never easy facing any kind of major surgery. What gives confort is other peoples' experiences and getting educated on what you need done. Get information from the cardio about what you need to do to get ready, of what procedures will take place and relax if you can from there. We are here if you help understanding anything that will take place. You are a good person to reach. You keep hanging in there.

I put you on the calendar for January 3rd. As you can see from all our replies, we will be right there with you and anxious to read all about your successful surgery. Wishing you the best,
Phyllis

Thanks everbody

Thanks everbody

I will try to keep my mind busy until the surgeory the best that I can. I have been thinking so much about valve choose and blood thinners that it can get out of hand at times. It definetly seems the St. JUDE for me would be the best choose. As for the blood thinners my uncle as been on it for 18 years since his valve work for childhood fever and since I do not drink and kinda enjoy home life a bit to much it should be fine. I have a bit of a sinus cold right now thanks to the great northeast NY weather. As much for myself I will be praying for all of you to. Thanks again for all the advice and concern.
