Scar / Connective tissue disorder theory. Poll.

Please respond to this poll if you've had any type of heart surgery. I'm interested to see if wide scars are related to connective tissue disorders and BAV.

I think it would help if you provide an explaination of your term for Dilated Aorta etc.
At least it would clarify the poll for me.

As I've mentioned in another thread, I had a BAV (but I don't anymore :biggrin2, and I have a rather thin and unobtrusive scar, but I had no issues with my aorta. With all the other issues I had to deal with, I must have missed that one when it was offered. . .

Also how they closed you, glue, staples etc, some scars end up looking wider if they are closed different ways. Also scars can change quite a bit in the first year, Justin's have been very thin the first few months then get wider or bumps, so it proably would be good to speify a time frame

My definition would be that you're pretty confident you're heading for some sort of surgical intervention on your Aorta eventually to prevent an aneurysm.

Been there, Done that... Twice.. and my scar from the surgery is barely noticable.
My drainage tube scars are worse than my main chest scar.

My scar is very thin, geeting almost hard to see at the top, bottom two inches 3/8" wide and visibly pinkish. I think one of the wires poked through the other day, quick jolt of a stab from inside out, now a little raised red lump, no pain...hmm, poser but nothing much to concern myself with. It's only been 6 months since surgery and I asume lots of changes to occur to my skin as I loose weight, regain my muscle and heal.

At 5 mos out from surgery, I can't answer yet. My scar looks different every day. Some days its bumpy some days it is a white line.
