I am considering taking Saw Palmetto for treatment of my enlarged prostate. I have read that this herb decreases coagulation and is not recommended to be used with coumadin. However, as long as I monotor and adjust my coumadin dose, would there be any problem with using this herb? I plan on taking 540 mg per day of Saw Palmetto.

You have been on Warfarin for several years and know this drug. Assuming that the sources you've read are creditable, I would ask my doctor and druggist for their opions concerning "why you should not take the herb if you are on coumadin/warfarin". Perhaps there is an interaction that has little to do with INR.

I have been taking Saw Palmetto for more than a dozen years. I have not noticed any problem
