Ross, you are indeed special! We are so lucky to have you ! I am so sorry that you have to go through so much. Sitting at your computer you reach and help so many people....

You are a treasure.

And I agree with whoever said that Nancy is right there with you. Between the two of you you have an incredible amount of information and support.

Ross,

Thank you, thank you, thank you for being "there" for me and so many others during our health challenges. Your tact, wit, intelligence and humor are greatly appreciated, as is your sense of calm. You've taught me to take things in stride, and to push for answers when need be.

Bottom line, your spirit is alive and well in these boards, and we love you!

Kim

Thank you Ross for the background on your Lung problems. Now I have a more complete picture of your 'situation'.

I could not fing your 'story' among the personal histories. Did I miss it? Since this thread is about you, for completeness you may want to add some comments on your Heart condition such as the failed Ross Procedure and how you barely survived your Aortic Aneurism if it's not too painful. Don't be bashful. You and Joe are perfect examples of Nancy's signature line "Never Give Up and Never Give In" (or vice versa :) and an inspiration to all of us on VR.com

Thanks for 'Being There' Ross !

Al I've never done a personal story for the public. I have sent some as email to whoever asked. It is long, boring, and well, just not something I really like to talk about. I still have some bitterness over the incidents even though they were uncontrollable. Can you believe of all I've typed, I never kept a single copy? Each time it's fresh and new.

Just to clarify--Oh I did give up. The creator had to pick me up and keep me going or I wouldn't be here. I wish I knew the reason behind it. Not much fun going through hell multiple times and still be able to talk about it.

Ross, you probly ought to put yours in Personal Stories, just to help somebody else. I know how hard it is, tho, to relive those bad times. I have thought about writing some stuff down, but I just couldn't go there. I understand.

Come on, Ross-

Write up your story in all its glory. I'm going to vow to do Joe's also, and Hensylee, ya'll do yours too.

I agree that these stories can help many people. But they can also be hard to live through again, write, and can be downright scary.

But we never sugar-coat things here. Maybe we could put a disclaimer at the beginning, for those who might not want to read the tough stuff.

I encourage others who have not done so, to vow to write up your story this year.

Statistics Don't Lie ?

Hey Ross,
Seems to me a quick mathematical calculaton here says you are in the minority when you think you are no more important that everyone else. We all think you are the best!
And when it comes to math even though I know 4 out of 3 people have problems with fractions, I am not one of those.

Ross, you sent me your story when I asked. It was one of the things that made me relize that sometimes NOW is better than LATER. I would probably still be sitting here in denial, waiting for something bad to happen. Your story made me relize that sometimes you have to question your doctor. It also made me relize that getting my problems fixed, while painful for me and my family, was necessary for us to move on with our lives. Yours is a tough story. Your road has been hard, and way to long. However, your story should be an inspiration for the rest of us. It shows that each of us can overcome the many obstacles that come between us and better health.

Consider posting your story. I know it may be tough to put it all down in words and then throw it out here for all the world to see. If you do, there is allways the chance that someone will read it and then make a turn down the road to recovery that might have been missed if not for your story.

There are alot of us out here who maybe should consider doing the same.

Thanks for all the help you've given me,

Rick

Ross,

Thank you so much for sharing more of your story. Your courage is an inspiration to all of us.

I just got home from NY and thought of you as I passed through the eastern part of the state on Rt. 80!

Courage? What courage? Not this guy! I'm only here because somehow, I've made it through what most people don't. Please, this has nothing to do with courage. I was scared ****less and don't mind saying I still am! ;)

Ross,

Everyone who has courage was also scared s***less at the time they faced their trial. The fact that they faced their trials and came through them despite the fear is what qualifies them as courageous.

To quote the Litany Against Fear, from the Dune series, by Frank Herbert:

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Sounds to me like you've either memorized the Litany, or it was already written in your heart.

The definition of "courage" - doing something despite having tremendous fear, it isn't - doing something without fear.

If you weren't scared ****less we'd have to call you God.
