Road trip! Coming this November....

Since I do not have vacation until October this year, I've missed out on several events ... Monte Carlo- and heart-related. I'm also not at our family reunion this weekend in Pennsylvania (Holsopple/Johnstown/Pittsburgh area), a trip that usually includes stops in Ohio (Akron area), Michigan (Detroit area), New Jersey (east of Philadelphia PA), Maryland (Baltimore), and Virginia (Alexandria) ... all to see auto-enthusiast friends, heart-related friends, college friends, and, of course, family.


Ssssooo...I'm hoping I will be able to take this trip, my 2007 Road Trip.... Below is my TENTATIVE itinerary...including traveling through/stops in Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Illinois. If you are interested in meeting along the way, be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or the evening, or whatever, let me know....



FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23 (day after Thanksgiving)
* leave Elgin about 8am, bound for Kentucky
* stay in Kentucky (near Lexington...) overnight


SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 24
* leave KY between 8a and 9a, bound for Charlotte NC


SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 26

* arrive in Anderson SC about 11a

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28
* leave Tallahassee FL between 8a and 9a, bound for Birmingham AL

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29
* leave Birmingham AL between 10a and noon, bound for Nashville TN

I checked your schedule to see if we could arrange a possible "quickie" on your way home, but you'll be headed home just about the time we land in Orlando. Yep, looks like I'll be in Orlando twice in two months. Bob has a job related meeting the first of December and then we have the reunion in February. I can't believe we'll miss you twice!

Seems as though some folks in Missouri have decided to host our own midwest Monte Carlo gathering just south of St Louis on I-55 (er, that is, if I remember the location correctly).... Some additional info, too ... some opportunities to meet people along the way have developed, including a BBQ in Tallahassee:


Friday evening in Kentucky may have a dinner somewhere....


Sunday in Charlotte may have a lunch or early dinner meet...


Monday in SC for lunch and Atlanta area for dinner....


Tuesday ... BBQ in Tallahassee ... a friend of mine from several Monte Carlo groups, Ken, is hosting this. The BBQ is open to anyone interested in coming. Let me know if you want to join us ... I just need to give Ken a number of people....


Wednesday ... dinner in Birmingham, perhaps


Thursday ... dinner in the greater Nashville area. Might actually be taking the "long way" to Nashville from Birmingham for a stop near Chattanooga TN....


Saturday ... will have a couple of stopping points along the way in Illinois, along the I-57 corridor....



Sure hope to meet as many people as I can ... including Wise ... and particularly Ann, Bonnie, Gadgetman ... would be great to see Gadgetman again ... and finally meet Ann and Bonnie.

Course, I think we have some members in Nashville TN, too, and other areas along the path .

Well Cort I'm sorry you didn't have a chance to get up here this past weekend.
I guess the dream cruise was really something.
For those who are not familier with this, it is the biggest calssic car show in the entire world.
This year there were about 40,000 classic cars and hot rods, over a stretch of 16 miles.
And there were 1.2 million people there.

Yeah, I've heard about it ... through my car-related buddies up there. Sure wish I could've been there.... Some of 'em told me that it was a lot less "hectic" in terms of stop'n'go on Woodward ... apparently, traffic kept moving, instead of sitting there. I don't see how, really, but I guess the people NOT in the WDC were kept off Woodward for the most part....

Hopefully I'll be there next year!
