I'm flying up to Minneapolis-St. Paul on Saturday 9/22 for a very quick trip. Got to go to Inver Grove Heights (?) near St. Paul on Saturday, flying home at  6:15 a.m. Sunday.

Would love to have some good wild rice & chicken soup Saturday night. Any suggestions?

I've gone to a restaurant at Mall of America several times, but would prefer to go somewhere in a neighborhood where I could get in & out in a hurry. That alarm will go off way to early Sunday morning.

Hi Marsha
Nice to hear you will be in my area. I am trying to figure out which restaurants are in the Inver Grove Heights area to give you come ideas. Let me get the phone book out and see what will be around you. Back in a bit

Looking through the restaurants in the Inver Grove Heights area there is not alot to choose from that may have good soup. If you want to go further south into the Eagan and Apple Valley area you will find more good places to dine. I noted many of the restaurants now have a soup of the day so one does not know when wild rice soup will be on the menu. With that in mind there is a food store chain called Byerlys and they do have marvelous wild rice soup. They carry it in the deli or in the freezer case. The hotel you stay at may be able to direct you also. Hope you have a great time while you are here

Are you doing a cat show in Inver Grove Heights? We showed our first Wedge Head Siamese in Inver Grove Heights about 5 years ago. If you see Fairy Dust Siamese, look at her kitties-our lineage :)

I wish I could help you with wild rice soup--I can not think of one place I have ever had any; It is a usual home made dish around here :) Smaller scale towns like Kathleen mentioned would be a good try. We drive right by Inver Grove on our way to Mayo, but we only see a very industrial area on our way through. I don't remember where we ate when we did the cat show.

Good luck and let us know how the quick trip goes! Ann

I'm going to the Inver Grove Heights show to pick up a Norwegian Forest Cat kitten. Will probably be staying near MSP on Saturday night, since my flight is half-past dark Sunday morning. I've shown in Inver Grove Heights before, at least twice -- last time was in 2004, I think.

So, any restaurant around Minneapolis/Bloomington would be good. I'll just have to call it a night very early Saturday. :(

I found this one, but...

I found this one, but...

I have never been to any of these restaurants, but found "Eddingtons Soup and Salad" with a quick Google search: http://www.eddingtons.com/

It sounds like they have excellent Wild Rice Soup, but they have a "Soup Schedule and the seem to only be availabler M-F???

This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but there are several Twin Cities locations, and maybe you could give them a call and check it out.

My hubby usually works in the Edina area, and there is one there. Perhaps I'll have to ride with him one of these days and check it out for lunch.

Good luck with your search for the ultimate MN chicken wild rice soup! I make a pretty mean one myself...but I'm going to be way up north on Sat.:D

Jean:

PM me with your recipe for chicken & wild rice soup.

BTW, I was at a cat show at the Excel Center (???) in downtown St. Paul, I think, in January 2003. This was during the Winter Carnival. The convention center had WONDERFUL chicken & wild rice soup. Very thick. I was able to get the recipe, but had to get it sized down -- it was for 150 servings!
