5 members of the fire department (where I worked up until last week) were injured in a fire last night. They are all still in the hospital with second degree burns. Luckily they are all expected to fully recover but have some pain and trauma to deal with in the meantime (to say nothing of their families, friends and fellow firefighters).

Could you please add them to your prayers?

I hope those firemen and their families heal quickly from this and that they will heal as pain free and uncomplicated as possible. They, as is their families are in my prayers and thoughts. Hugs, Harrybaby:eek: :D

Thanks, guys. I saw some videos of the fire and am so grateful they got out alive. Apparently the fire was building in the walls and the house basically exploded into flames while they were on the third floor searching. God was definitely watching out for them.

We have the greatest respect and affection for the firefighters who keep us safe and help us in times of medical emergencies. Please know that I am sending all of my wishes and and positive thoughts are being sent.

Getting more information by the minute. Turns out there were a total of 11 firefighters injured in this fire (75 firefighters were working on it) but I only heard of the 5 initially because those were the ones from my district. 8 are still in the hospital but the worst condition is fair so things are good.

Truly sad but happy all will turn out okay.

Most definitely!

Most definitely!

We will certainly add them to our prayers. Please keep us posted. Many hugs. j.

Gina,

My prayers are with the firefighters and their families. These men and women put their lives on the line every day. We lost nine last month in Charleston SC, very sad. I am so grateful to the men and women who are willing and able to serve in these jobs.

All my prayers and well wishes to these brave firefighers and their families! I have a dear nephew who is a fire fighter so I know how anxious loved ones can get when something like this happens. Best of luck!

I say a prayer everytime we respond to a fire. Sometimes, what looks "routine" suddenly turns bad. Also remember the National Volunteer Fire Council says 73 percent of firefighters in the United States are members of Volunteer Fire Departments. I have a sticker on my truck that says "What if Volunteer Firefighters DIDN'T volunteer!!!"

My prayers to the families and friends of those brave and courageous firefighters.

May God Bless,

Danny

I thought I would share this email I just got from the Fire Chief. I also just realized how much I miss being with the group.

Good afternoon all ----
Drew and Chad have been released from the hospital to continue their
recuperation at home.
Chris and Matt remian in the Burns unit --they are telling them to get more
sleep, but hat has ben difficult for the many visitors wishing them well...

We have received many many expressions of support---from the signs on the lawn
at Madeira, the visits from the Board members, the e-mail offer of help from the
surrounding department chiefs, the cookies, flowers, the voice mails---all and
many are expressing their appreciation for what we do and their wish for
recuperation for those guys injured.

***** (I deleted his name) called from the White House---wished us all well through this process; The agent we see most on Presidential visits also called

Last evenings's session with the Critical Incident Stress Mgt team was
worthwhile. If you were unable to attend, please know that we are concerned as
an organization for the "whole health" of all of us---AND OUR FAMILIES --which
are affecetd by our jobs, whether we believe so or not?.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental, as we suspected. We'l keep you
in the lopp on that.

We also will continue to pursue the most accurate determination of the
phenomenon that caused the injuries. We are getting info on various aspects of
the conditions before and at the time of the event and ALL of you will know what
we find out.

Be careful!--wear your seatbelts, put your name on the acct passport, checks
your gear, all those things!!!! We are reminded by this incident that it can
happen here, and to US?

More as it becomes avial.

Chief makes a good point in his "be careful" lines. Indian Hill is a very small and very wealthy residential only community. This is the first time there has been anything like this in the way of injuries. Prior to Wednesday, this was something that happened elsewhere. This is certainly a "no one is immune" slap of reality.

Thanks for all your prayers. I have no doubt they have helped.
