Thank you Bonnie,
You are the same age as my 'boss'.
I still walk every chance I get but now it is only in the high 20's or low 30's at best and we are getting some snow tonight.
We did walk today and damn near froze but it still felt good.
I still go to our hospital once every month for a blood test.
They recently started up a second blood lab just for people like us.
There is free parking and no waiting and the hospital is only about 15min away so it's not bad.
The Coumadin has been absolutely no problem so far.
Iv'e never changed my dosage since day one and recently made a minor tweek regarding the days I take the different dosages.
I now take 5mg on Mon & Fri and 2.5 the rest.
It is just a little less but I understand we may need less as we get older due to our bodies natural blood thinning.
I guess there is at least one good thing about getting old besides staying on this side of the grass.:D

Everyone's experience is evident here...all excellent advice. I remember one funny incident (believe it or not...there were several) after my first AVR, our post-surgery instructions while still in the hospital included, "Not to lift anything heavier than our house slippers" for the first few days. The package of literature, pamphlets and instructions they placed in our laps weighed more than my house slippers...
