I just wanted to post the link to the Bicuspid Aortic Foundation on this thread for folks who are new to the forum.

And Mary, I just want to mention that the age at which your father died is the most common age for men with bicuspid aortic valve disease to die of aortic dissection or rupture. Unless there was an autopsy, any death that was called a "massive MI" should be suspected to be from aortic dissection or rupture in families where bicuspid aortic valve disease is found. As you will find on the Bicuspid Aortic Foundation web site, the aorta should be checked, not just the aortic valve! And yes, it is inherited.Sincerely,
Arlyss
Thanks Arlysss,
I wish I had the address of my former cardiologist (he moved back to Arizona) who stated there was no relationship between my having a bicuspid and my son having one. He further elaborated by saying, "there is actually less risk."
I knew he was wrong, but I didn't have the information to prove it.
