Hello Valvers,
Was thinking about sending the cardiac surgeon who did my AVR the finisher's medal from a spring race (Half marathon) I will be running/walking.
Any comments or other ideas?

Others have done that, and similar things, as little "thank yous." I think most of the doctors get a kick out of it. Maybe send it with a picture of you crossing the finish line?
I sent a picture of me and my dog at our first post-surgical agility trial to my cardio and my surgeon. The surgeon said he pinned it to the bulletin board for his patients, and kept it quite a while.

Yes I gave my NYC finishers medal to my cardio. I had a local tv station filmic. There is a still picture from the event hanging in his waiting room. I also gave some of my DisneyWorld medals to the people who made my valve, when I visited Edwards in Irvine.

Great Idea. I am sure they would appreciate it! I send mine an email here and there and talk about how normal/well I am doing.

Rachel,Thanks for sharing!

Agility Dog, that is neat that you sent agility dog trial pics to your docs! I like your idea of sending finishing line photo.

tprice54, that is awesome that you gave NYC finishers medal to your cardio. It is really neat that you were able to visit with the folks that made your valve and also give them a medal give a medal.

The GymGuy, that is cool that you send emails to the doc to let you know how well you are doing.

This site is so great! I really appreciate being able to share and learn from other "valvers"!

Great idea about the finisher's medal.
I sent both my cardiologist and surgeon signed, framed pictures of me finishing my first half marathon on the tenth anniversary of my surgery.
