St. Jude makes more than one type of mechanical valves; the two more current mechanical valves from St. Jude are the Regent and Masters, Regent is the newest and believed to be most quiet. I've heard some say the Masters is noisy. Check your discharge papers from the hospital; the model is probably on there.
