labguides

After asking for help with naming a guide puppy -- we have a change of litter letter. Now the puppy's name must start with R. It is a yellow, female lab.
We are OPEN to ideas. She will come home to us in mid-March, but we need to submit a list of R names this week -- then the guide dog school picks a name from our list. If the name is not already in use by a working guide or a current guide dog puppy, the school will usually choose our first choice.

Our current guide dog puppy goes to "college" on Feb 26th. That will be a sad day for us as we have to say good-bye to this puppy who has lived with since August, 2003. She is such a sweet dog!

Rafiki (means "friend")
Rose
Raja (means "hope")
Raleigh
Ramona (means "protector")
Ruby

If you go to www.babynames.com and click on "R" it will give you a long list of "R" names from different countries and their meanings. You can have it list just female names. That's how I helped my mom come up with a name for her chihuahua (Tia, meaning "aunt," because she is the aunt to all of the "granddogs" in the family ;) ).

Good luck!

Razl Dazl (Razz would be a good nickname, even for a female)
Rosebud
Roxie

BTW, I've had books w/ suggestions for cat names. I'm sure there are similar books for dogs.

I'm facing the same situation with naming a female kitten ... but it's got to be a university or college name.

Marsha,
I went to a college in NJ called Ramapo. Might be a good name for your kitten.

I like:
Rosie or Rose

Reva

Reba

Rhiannon *may be too many syllables!*

Rikki

Rita (I have one of those!)

Thank you for doing such a kind job--I can imagine how hard it is to "graduate" them after you've watched them grow up. :(

I have a neighbor that goes by Rev..so maybe Revlon? . Let us know who wins :p Bonnie

Yeah for R

Yeah for R

How about my favorite R name

RED WING!!!!!!!

I bet that comes as a suprise, huh? LOL :D :p

:( Miss my Wings!!

I think Raye or Raynell after the great Ray Charles, of course.

Dunno about this....

Dunno about this....

....spose it would be out of the question to call a female Ross, after our wonderful forum manager. :D

If the dog guides her master/mistress half as well as our Ross guides us through the turbulent world of computers then she'll have done a real good job. ;)

I like Rain also, providing the doggie barks with a Colorado accent, and if Ross is too macho maybe we could consider Rossie to 'soften' it a little.

Cheers,
Billy

RAVEN would be a cool name, but she's a blondie! It's so much fun to bounce pet names around but it seems like mostly we girls here on VR.COM are the only ones offering our suggestions! Our dogs are Clover and Daisy; nice girls. RAPUNZEL? That might not even be spelled correctly. You will let us know your name for her? ROSEMARY? RAMONA is a nice name but it is a nearby town out here. I have two very pleasant friends by that name also; it's hard to call a dog by a friend's name...

Rico!

Rico!

There's a beautiful little mountain town right up the road from me called Rico. :) Pronounced 'Ree co'

My brother had a dog when he lived in CA, he named it Stoner... after Stoner, CO (also right up the road).... if was pretty tough convincing the CA folks that the dog was named after a beautiful little mountain town in CO! :D :D
