Hello all,

Will be having valve replacement + dacron on aorta root on 01/05/11 due to bicuspid condition.

Age 43, always been healthy and active.
Due to high emotional state, had my 1st hypnotherapy session last night to attempt to ease the nervousness and fears.

Has anyone tried hypnotherapy? How did it work for you?

Regards,
Clement

Clement,
I personally haven't undergone hypnotherapy but looking forward to hearing about other's experiences.

I listened to a few positive imagery CD's leading up to surgery which I found helpful.
Hope the hypnotherapy works for you!

It seems that the goal of hypnotherapy is to describe your fears/concerns about the surgery, and then describe the potential positive outcomes, such as:
Being able to live, get a second life as fulfilling but different, maybe get closer to family/friends/ relatives,...

And then you have to listen each day the positive outcomes to "convince" your mind.

It seems that there is nothing to lose by trying this process.

Clement
