My niece sent an e-mail to family and friends today. She is so upbeat! Thought I would share it with my vr.com family, since you are sending prayers her way:

We are blessed to say this morning that we have reached 31 weeks!!! Thank you for all your prayers, phone calls and emails- your support, love and encouragement has helped get us to this point! Now we are focusing our goal on the critical 32-week mark when we will feel a lot more confident about the girls? health upon arrival.

I apologize for not immediately returning your calls and emails- the days go faster here than you might expect! I appreciate each and every one of your messages and plan to print them out and put them in a book so the girls can see how loved they were before they were even born!

We are feeling good for the most part- a few contractions every now and then, but they have been kept under control thanks to some wonderful drugs. Please pray that the drugs keep working for at least another week!

As for the girls, they appear to be happy in their environment. Baby B is especially active- she reacts to any Doppler device or monitor placed on my belly- kind of like she?s saying, ?Don?t mess with me!? She makes the nurses and techs laugh. I can?t wait to see whether her personality is related to how she?s acting now. Baby A is down much lower and moves less- I think she?s relaxed and comfortable in her little spot.

Please know that we are grateful to have such a wonderful circle of family and friends. We have never felt so uplifted.

Update!

Update!

Last Friday, my niece was sprung out of jail (the hospital), thanks to contractions calming a bit.
She's still on bedrest and she's doing just that. No getting up to make banana nut bread or anything like that.

Today marked Week 32. She sent this e-mail to a very long list of recipients:

"We have made it to our goal of 32 weeks! 2 weeks ago, when we went into the hospital, we were told we only had a 50-50 shot! Now that the babies have reached that critical development milestone, each day they spend inside the ?oven? here at home is hopefully one less day they?ll spend in the NICU!"

I'm going to St. Louis this weekend to meet up with a friend who moved from Fort Worth in February to Normal IL (3 hours away from St. Louis). I'll visit my niece then.

Marsha, that's wonderful news. I will keep her in my prayers. We were blessed with a Great niece today- the first of the greats!

Good news, Marsha!
Our daughter must be 3 weeks behind your niece, and we're counting every day that she continues to carry the baby a blessing.
We'll have to exchange photos at the reunion!:)

Phyllis:

Congratulations on your great-niece!!!!!!!! And they really are great!

I've bought my great-niece Lauren, 27 months, a Halloween T-shirt with ruffle around the bottom that has a black cat on it, and her 4-month-old brother, Lane, a onesie that says "I love my Mummy."

Marsha, I am so happy to hear that your neice is home and that the babies have reached the 32 week point. As a mother of twins, I know that the longer they stay in mommy, the better. I'll be keeping all of you in my prayers. Thanks for keeping us posted. LINDA

Glad to hear she's reached the magic 32 week mark. My daughter had a very complicated pregnancy with identical twins - went inpatient at 26 weeks (typical for her situation). The hope was to make it to 32 weeks at which time they would do a c-section. Well, she made it to 27 weeks 5 days. The twins girls spent 68 and 74 days in the NICU and today are healthy, delightful 5.5 month little sweeties. Nerve-wracking journey but so worth it. Best wishes to all! If I can help send me a PM.

Marsha,

Thoughts/prayers continuing, of course, for your niece.

Yes, Cort, I'll be in St. Louis on Oct. 4. What time is this gathering??? PM me with your cell number.
I plan to go shopping at Plaza Frontenac, do a few other things during the day while out doing errands for Holly. She lives near I-64 & I-170 in Brentwood. With my Garmin, I'm sure I can find the Holiday Inn.

PM replied to ;).

The meet starts at 9a, with registration 9a-noon. I would suggest planning to come sometime between noon and 3p...that'd probably be the best time.

Would be cool to "meet you in St Lou!"

:)

My sister told me she envies my going to St. Louis this weekend, that maybe the babies will arrive over the weekend ;) and that I will be on hand to pick her up at the airport. :D Boy, she has it all planned!

Cort:
Have PM'd you. Will see you shortly after lunch.

Hi Marsha, Have they arrived yet? Keep us updated. Sorry you and Cort couldn't meet up. I read in another thread that he was ill. I'm hoping he is feeling better as well.

Thanks, Betty.

Sadly, I am feeling better...just in time for work tomorrow. ARG!

Maybe something IS wrong...I don't know :(.

No babies yet, but she's taking an Rx to quell contractions and just being on her feet to shower is painful. I can't imagine she'll go more than another couple of weeks. My sister says babies will come in the next week.

My niece gave me a full day of returns to do ... Walmart, Target, Macy's, Pottery Barn for Kids, Babies R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, etc. Thank heavens I have a GPS!!! Result: about $600 in gift cards.
Still lots of things to return, including some big-ticket items that were duplicates. I'll be back in St. Louis on Oct. 31-Nov. 2.

Sorry I didn't get to see Cort, but I'm glad he's on the mend.

I've been keeping up with your thread ... how exciting that it is almost time. I am so happy that things are going so well. Your niece is very lucky to have such a devoted aunt!
