I know I am new here and probably have not earned the "right" to ask for prayers, but I am really down in the dumps right now, and they are much needed. A little two year old boy named Kolbey, born with congenital heart defects, suffered a stroke during his fontan surgery. He sustained massive brain damage that was just too severe to overcome. Kolbey earned his angel wings just after midnight last night. Please keep his family (Laurie, Adam, Kyle, and Kenleah) in your prayers as they try to adjust to life without Kolbey - at least his physical presence, anyway.

This is just tearing me up inside...........it is so gut-wrenching. I "spoke" with his mom online a couple of days before the surgery. Laurie was so at peace with this surgery and felt really positive about it............ This just hits too close to home. Poor Laurie is living the nightmare that we parents of CHD kids constantly fear............. Anyway, thanks for listening and thanks in advance for the prayers. BTW, Kolbey's carepage is at http://www.caringbridge.org/ks/kolbeywayne/

Hi Janet,
You don't have to earn the right for a prayer request. I am sorry to hear the news about Kolbey.
You and his family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care

There can be nothing worse than losing a child. The family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi Janet,
My thoughts and prayers are with this family. I know that this is also very hard for you. Parents of children who are medically fragile and parents of children with disabilities are like families and whatever happens to one effects all .

Be strong and pass our thoughts to this family. Gain strength from one another.

Carla

What a beautiful child. My sincerest sympathies are with the family and you, too. When the little ones are involved, it is gut wrenching to all of us. They are so dependent and helpless. And they love us 'big people' so much. May God bless the family through this time of grief. Blessings

Janet:

God will be keeping Kolbey's family close to Him in the days to come as they learn to go forward without his physical presence. His spirit will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

I have added Kolbey's family to my prayer list.

Janet,
I am so saddeded to hear the news about Kolbey. We are here to do whatever you need for support. His picture is so bright;a testiment that he is in God's hands.
Kolbey is in our thoughts and in our prayers.
God Bless.
Jim

Janet

You have every right to ask for prayers for a grieving families. The loss of a child is beyond anything on earth. I remember this something that my mother observed 31 years ago, when I had repair on my aortic valve. I was in my bed asleep and there was a seriously ill little girl in another bed. HSe had enlarged heart plus other problems. Her prarents were there as well as the doctors trying to help the little girl. One night, I was half asleep and saw all the doctors and nurses surrounding the child, trying to save her life. She died that night. My mother had a dream about the little girl's death. My mother never knew for years that her dream had come true till I told her about the scene years ago. So it is hard on anyone and the memories last a lifetime. I hope your little one is doing well. Just keep hanging in there. You will get to know a lot of kids with all kinds of heart ailments and some will pass on. It is sad, I know, but they are better in the other place. Just the little angels. Take care and enjoy the weekend.

Janet,

Consider it done. Kolbey looks like a little angel! I will have Kolbey, his family and yours in my thoughts and prayers! God Bless!

Thank you!

Thank you!

Sorry I didn't thank you guys sooner, but we have been without power for 27 hours and without cable access for 48 (gasp!) due to some storms. Fortunately, it only got to 92 yesterday..................................
Anyway, thank you so much for your prayer support. Just read a post from Laurie (Kolbey's mom) and she amazes me with her strength...........I'm sure your prayers are helping. Take care and God bless,

Janet:

Hope you've gotten power back by now. Last night was kind of cool, but it's going to heat up this weekend.

Storms were pretty bad in the Fort Worth-Dallas area, weren't they!
There was some damage in downtown Fort Worth. I work diagonal from the old BankOne skyscraper that was heavily damaged in tornado 3-4 years ago. Group has bought bldg and is turning it into luxury apartments/condos. During the storms, I thought of all the construction cranes perched atop the building, hoping they had not crashed to the ground...
