So far no complications. I wanted to be the most boring story and think I've succeeded!
The hospital sent me home Saturday afternoon (surgery Wed am). My biggest problems are an inability to get in or out of bed without a boost by my shoulders, and a very stiff back. The back problem will probably abate as I gradually give up the protective hunch when walking, and stop clutching the pillow so hard. I've had little pain from the incision, never got the Percocet prescription filled, take Tylenol only if I think I'm being too much of a coward about coughing.
My 84-year-old mother is performing housekeeping and cooking miracles. Her reward was that the physician's assistant asked about my sister after seeing her in the room!

Congratulations Debby. I'm glad your recovery is going so well. :)

I was going to say that boring is good but I see that it's been said. More than once. So instead, I'll say, "Ditto!"

Keep up the terrific recovery. And, by the way, your 84-year old mother sounds like a terrific mom!

Absolutely nothing wrong with a boring recovery......no need for uniqueness on this road! Mothers are wonderful and I am happy yours performing up to the task; mine did too along with my wife. I could never thank them enough.

I, too, had a boring recovery, and 5 months out, it is still boring. So keep up the good work.

I didn't have anything for pain at home except OTC Tylenol. I experienced the same awkwardness getting out of bed, further complicated by the fact that I have a little touch of arthritis in my right shoulder. That hurt! I ended up tiring out a few back muscles that caused minor pain, too, because I was hunched up, tensing getting in and out of bed, but I just accepted that as "me" and carried on. There were a few nights I didn't sleep well, I like to sleep curled up in a ball on my side, and I got cranky (always do wehn sleep-deprived :) ). But apart from that, and I don't consider them "bumps" on the road, I had no problems.

I was trying to be a tough guy myself. finally opted for taking Percoset at night. it's nice to sleep.
