Mary

This poll is for members who have tissue valves; not mechanicals.
Please mark the type of valve that you have, and whether you are on coumadin for A-fib.

Is there any way to see the poll results without voting - since I obviously don't have a tissue valve? I think the only way you can see the results is to vote. Mary, can you modify the poll to include an optio that says "Don't have a tissue valve, just want to see results.":D

Karlynn,
All you have to do it highlight/click the number, the name will come up.:)

What number? I don't get any numbers until I vote. Any time I go to the thread it will just show me the pre-vote poll options.

Duh, never mind - all I need to do is click "View Poll Results" Why do they have to make it so hard!!!!!!!! :)

I just checked back Karlynn. I guess you're able to see the names now?

Don't be shy

Don't be shy

I know we have a lot more tissue valvers than have so far contributed to the poll. So how about contributing to the poll. Mary thanks for starting the poll it's just a bit disappointing that so few have contributed so far, especially seeing this issue of post surgery A-fib and Warfarin therapy is so often mentioned. :)

I'd be interested to know which valve was replaced, since I have two valves being watched. I know this poll doesn't apply to me, but it would be interesting.

Thanks for setting up this poll Mary!

You raise a good point, Wise. As Tobagotwo has discussed in another thread recently, the chances of ending up with A-fib vary considerably depending upon which valve is involved, with mitral valvers being much more prone than aortic. (I think it was 1% chance for aortic and 20something % chance for mitral, although you should check his recent posts if you want the exact statistics).

To answere your question, I had my aortic valve replaced with a bovine valve. Take care, Kate

Justin's bovine was pulmonary, but because of the way his heart was rebuilt, his new pulmonary valve (he never had one before) is actually out side of his heart, lyn

Hi Mary, what a neat poll. I carry a card around with me in my purse that says "Mosaic Porcine Heart Aortic Valve, 19mm." I couldn't take Coumadin because I have leukemia and am on a very strong chemo drug that wouldn't mix with Coumadin. This is the reason I had to go with a pigs valve. I was surprised to see that there wasn't very many pigs valves.

Now, Glenda, you know full well that you and I both have the porcine Medtronics Mosaic valve! The Rolls Royce of tissue valves, as my surgeon assured me...

I, too, am not on warfarin.

Best wishes,

Bob you are so right! Silly me. Wrong again! Oh well it wouldn't be the first time. I did notice that the porcine valve is coming in second. Yeah! !

How are you by the way? I notice you don't post very much any more. I miss your humor!

And if anyone deserves to be sporting a Rolls Royce valve, it's you two!

valve type..

valve type..

After speaking with my surgeon on January 10th,2006 I found out the particulars on my tissue valve. I have a 27mm St. Jude Biocor stented porcine bioprosthesis .

Which valve was replaced?

Which valve was replaced?

35 members have marked whether they had the Ross procedure, homograft, or xenograft (porcine or bovine). No one marked the CryoLife, but we know some members have one from posts on the Forum.

A few people marked which valve was replaced. If you didn't, would you mind posting that information on the thread? If you wish to include whether it was stenotic or regurgitant--or both!--please do.
I had a stenotic, bicuspid aortic valve replaced.
