When's the last time you cleaned out your private messages sent/received? I don't get a lot, but I usually clean them as I go - less'n it's somthing I wanna save. This being the 1st of the month, along w/your donation, why not clean out your pm folder before Ross comes after us.

I've asked before and very little had been cleaned out. I think we may have to set a date and just delete them as some people have never bothered to attempt to clean up any. I'd rather they do it themselves, since something may be important to them, but if it's been there for over a year, it can't be that important.

Here is the list as it stands now:

Ross,
I did EXACTLY like Ann suggested, and I have 0, zip, NONE in my folder!

Feel free to PM me with my present! :p :p :p :p :D :D :D

What about if they are automatically deleted by the site after a month? I vote for this. Anyone else? Mabe we could have a poll?

Mine that I left in there are some that I go back to read from time to time, but they could go if necessary. They are kinda special and I ought to just print them out - but then I'd lose them. We can make a folder, too, according to instructions in that section. Wonder if anyone has done that?

I don't have a problem with special ones that people want to keep. I do have a problem with multitudes of unneeded and useless ones that just lay in the folders taking up disk space. Anything in there can be saved to your computer just like email. Just transfer the PM to notepad, give it a name and keep it!

I think what many fail to realize is that they have 3 folders to clean out.

Inbox

Sent Items

Message Tracking

Each one must be cleaned out seperately.

They probably aren't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's nice to have things cleaned up and makes maintainence much easier on Hank and I.

I have nothing in 'tracking'. How do they get in there? Do they disappear from tracking if the pm is deleted?

Tracking is when you've hit "request a return receipt."
So, if I send three, and say I want notification, my message will say,
"3 sent; 0 unconfirmed."
If you don't request the return notification, you won't have any in your tracking.
That's probably what's happened with you, Ann.

oh, ok. No, I never request a return receipt. Just another piece of stuff that would have to be deleted. People always check when there's a PM - so I always know they got it.
