Pleurisy

Well I had my cath on Friday. Went to church Sat. night and couldn't sing very well. I got short of breath. Came home and had pain in my left chest and back. Felt muscular .Took 3 Ibuprofen and laid down. Ended up waking at 4:45 a.m. with increased pain. Went to ER. Guess I know too much being a nurse sometimes things scare me that the average person may blow off. (What if I have a pulmonary emboli)? Got a shot of Toradol and 1 hr. later Demerol/ Phenergan. Doc says pleurisy. Why of all weeks do I have pluerisy??

Yuck! I have to have a TEE on Tuesday. I feel like this is the worst month of my life!!

Thanks for letting me vent! My Demerol is worn off I need to find the heating pad!

Not saying it isn't possible, but are they sure? Confirmed with Chest X-Ray? Just want to be sure your not starting up CHF.

Yes Ross they did do an xray and an EKG and cardiac enzymes. Am feeling better now with the heating pad and Ibuprofen. Only had one episode that the pain was unbearable for about 5 minutes.

God does things in mysterious ways, maybe this is my pain desensitization lesson.

Toradol is wonderful stuff. They jammed a shot of it in my leg when my chest tube started rubbing and interacting with my lungs and heart. I was in an upward spiral of agony with every breath. The Toradol made the pain controllable almost instantly. I understand some people do get hallucinations with it, though.

Glad you've discovered the cause and are moving past it now.
