i think that all your questions have all been thoroughly answered by all the others here; i don't have much to add.
for the most part, everyone recovers at their own rate. joey expected his recovery to go much faster than it did, but once her realized that he just had to "go along" with it, he was ok.
there are, sometimes, little bumps in the road after surgery. it happens. still, you can work with them and they are treatable and sometimes fixable. for the most part they are just that, stumbling blocks along the way.
as nancy said, there are so many people who contribute here, there are bound to be good and not so good stories.
please try and keep a positive attitude as you go in.
