update on my surgery

update on my surgery

Thanks everyone for your wishes and prayers. I was lucky enough to have a minimally invasive mitral valve repair with the Cosgrove-Edwards ring at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio by Dr. Marc Gillinov (I was REALLY impressed with him). I had a partially collapsed lung while I was in ICU. I had surgery on Thursday and was released on the following Wednesday. Actually, the doctor released me on Tuesday but my surgeon said no. I had an air pocket in my lungs and they wanted to reinsert chest tubes; which I argued about. The doctor released me since it was small and wanted me to have a follow up xray when I got home. When I finally got home, I got a chest xray and I am supposed to have a follow up xray a month after. I go to my cardiologist tomorrow for a checkup. The first week out of the hospital I was feeling pretty good. Since then I've been more sore and more tired. Today, is this first day I've felt pretty good in a while. I hope it continues. Thanks again for thinking about me.

So glad your surgery is behind you and you are progressing. There are little glitches sometimes, but they resolve and healing continues. It sounds as if you're doing well. It just takes time and patience, but you'll be feeling much better soon.

Congratulations.

I'm glad to hear that you have the surgery behind you. You've hit a glitch, but it will soon be forgotten. :)

Welcome back. Walk, breathe and nap. Everything else will take care of itself.

Glad to see your post and glad you had a repair. Best wishes for an uneventful recovery.

I'm so glad that it is over for you. I promise things will get better. Some days are better than others but you've made to the other side of the mountain and that's a big accomplishment.
