It is so unusual to see a hummingbird sitting on a branch (it is a hummingbird, right)? Sure blends in.

I am a bird watcher and I love the hummers!!! I have six feeders out and am just starting to get some action. I took a picture with my cell phone through the window of one feeding. It turned out pretty good.

Thanks Dennis. I will save this picture.

Thank you all for your kind words. I love taking the pictures for themselves-but I do get extra enjoyment from the comments of my friends on this forum. When I take a picture I am trying to capture something-it is nice to know when the picture connects with your friends.

This forum is very generous when it comes to posting pictures (and I try show my appreciation by taking them down after a brief period). One problem inherent with showing pictures on a forum are (the sensible) restrictions on file size. Many of these pictures are shown on my Flickr site, where pictures can be posted without size restrictions. As it happens, the hummingbird picture could be posted here without the requirement of down-sizing. But many of the pictures look better at larger file sizes. For those who are interested, the larger size pictures can be seen (and downloaded) from the following location:

Please feel free to download any you like. If you feel like making any comments that would be great.

beautiful! We used to have a feeder hanging above a table on our patio. The cat sat on the patio and the humming birds fed above its head without fear.

Then we screened in the patio and hung feeders just outside the screen. The birds were constantly at the feeders. I took some movies of them. Just watching them flit is fun and did you ever see them dive bombing each other?

Yes, they do sit in trees but not for long.

Thanks Dennis
