Hi all -
I have been busy getting a cath and going for pre-op for my upcoming AVR next Friday. I have a Cat Scan scheduled for Tuesday to assist in determining the course of action for the aortic root. Other than that busy with the kids end of year projects and 5th grade graduation, and of course work!
I have an opportunity to participate in a research study to study the pattern of AF patients after OHS. It involves the placement of one extra pair of electrical wires on the heart. In addition, two small biopsies of the heart from the left and heart atrium will be obtained. If I go into AF in the hospital, the heart rate will be monitored from the electrodes.
So, I am otherwise extremely healthy and would like to participate in the study. It would give me an opportunity to give back for all the people who have participated in studies and lent me their advise and suppport.
Can anyone think of why I would not want to participate in the study? I am will to undertake the small risk involved in the extra wires and the biopsies.
Getting nervous, gettting ready...
