and......your talking about me who is still not stable - 3.4 then 3.8

Freddie...listen hon. You can get a 3.4 reading and then a 3.8 reading by doing two tests, one right after the other. That is NOT an unstable INR. Most of us here will vary between 2.0 & 4.5 and consider ourselves stable. The INR is NOT a static number. It is an estimate by definition. Now if you tell us that last week you tested at 1.5 and then this week you tested at 4.5 well THAT IS an unstable INR. As long as you're between 2.0 and 4.5....don't sweat it. Minor fluctuation amounts from .5 to 1.5 are common and expected.

Not that I'm too concerned, but in order to keep all parties happy, staying at 3.0 consistently would be time for a party.

It's never going to stay consistently at 3.0. That is a fact. You've got impossible expectations if that's what your thinking.

I've said it before and for the benefit of those reading this thread, THROW THOSE DAMN VITAMIN K CHARTS OUT THE WINDOW.
With Coumadin you eat the diet you've always eaten and if your semi consistent, the dose will be adjusted for that diet. If you start trying to control your vitamin K intake, all your doing is helping to make things harder on yourself, because your INR will be all over the place. The best control is no control, when it comes to diet and Coumadin. There is no reason on earth to skip out on any foods you like. Don't buy into the hogwash about avoiding greens and other high vitamin K content foods. Your body needs those nutrients. Diet is a very minor factor in INR. You'd have to really pig out and I do mean REALLY PIG OUT on high vitamin K items to even dent your INR.

AMEN

The Gospel of Coumadin, according to Ross.

and......your talking about me who is still not stable - 3.4 then 3.8 and I'm on day 9 of my head cold, which btw, doesn't seem to be getting much better and not getting any worse. Oh yea, throat swap from last week came back negative. And I'm on day 12 of taking this new Taro-warfarin.

DING! Your absolutely right Kristy, I am stable. See, having a head cold is fogging up my brain.

DING X 2 I know no one can stay consistent. Guess I should have said 'hover around 3.0'

No DING this time. I was just curios about cooked cabbage and just wanted to see.
Honest Ross, I'm following your Gospel

I. Like Freddie seem (to myself) to be unstable. I am starting to relax more. I got so disgusted with my doctor last month that I started using the clinic for INR testing....first one came back 3.4 so they called (they do a vein draw so you dont get results until next day) and said it was good. Next one came back 3.6......I got a call that said....hold a days dose and resume the same dose the next day! I just smiled, shook my head, rolled my eyes and took 1mg less that night!! Hahaha!
