Hi Gang,
I have to post as I am getting really nervous about my Heart Cath on Thursday and what it may present if they do find the blockage to be serious....I guess I am just having the fear of the unknown when it comes to dealing with heart blockages and when they talk about the "risks" involved with the heart cath and I am, as I have said in past posts, I guess, afraid of having my chest cracked open if needed, but I am also wondering how good the angioplasty surgery or stent placement really is when it comes to preventing other blockages. I don't know why I am so much more nervous this time as I have had this done twice before, but could it be that I took it for granted the last time that it was just "another one of those inconvienient diabetes complications" and didn't think it was too serious at the time? Or could it be that now that I have had diabetes for 12 years, that the complications are now upon me as the docs have told me that complications usually start to set in between 10 and 15 years of being diabetic? Oh I dont' mean to go on this long, but I just had to vent some of the nervousness. Hopefully, this one will go ok too. :( :D Thanks for listening. Harrybaby :D

Harry,

I am not sure how to help you feel more relaxed as I have never been through what you are going through. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I think the fear of the unknown is a lot of times worse than knowing. I will prayer for you to get through it all smoothly.

Sending hugs

Michelle

Harry,
I'm thinking of you, and me and Chloe are sending you over loads of thoughts and positive vibes - they worked for Chloe today and I'm sure they'll work for you too!!!

Lots of love

Hey Harry!

Do you want to borrow my "chicken dance" picture for awhile? I always felt better when I looked at it and saw how funny he/I was.

Anyway, I understand your anxiety. It's very understandable!
I hope you are able to get the cath procedure out of your way and have a peaceful summer.

Just keep saying this to yourself, "I need this to get help for myself, then I'll be feeling better"

I truly feel that the blockage/s that might be there are at the root of your feeling so poorly.

Unfortunately, to get proper help, you have to go through some fire.

I'll be thniking of you and wishing an easy time of it.

Harry, I'm sending some cyberhugs your way. I haven't had a cath since I was a child, so I can't speak to it directly, but it sounds like you are at the point where one definitely needs to be done. Keep us informed as to your progress.

Hello Harry,

I UNDERSTAND your concern. I've lost count of the number of cath's I've had because I didn't want to know which one was #13 which means that I'm well into the teens by now.

MOST of the time I thought they were an 'interesting adventure', except the FIRST time and one time when I was a little more concerned about what they might find.

Bottom Line: *ASSUMING* that your cardiologist has hundreds (thousands?) under his belt, he will KNOW what to do with whatever he finds. Cath Labs that operate like an assembly line are typically VERY efficient, very experienced, and very SAFE.

I've forgotten if you are on Coumadin. IF so, be sure to talk with your Cardiologist about BRIDGE Therapy before and after. That would also be a good time to ask about risks if you want to broach the subject. In the mean time, try to think about something (ANYTHING) else.

Hopefully your cardiologist will find some ANSWERS to your issues and be able to fix them or at least treat you more effectively.

Best wishes,

'AL Capshaw'

Thanks All....

Thanks All....

Thank you all for your kind words and support. I think that maybe I might be more nervous this time is because my older brother had his heart attack last month, and even though I know that I will be ok in the Dr.s hands, it still makes me a little nervous. I am also wondering if maybe some of my nervousness could be from being tired of all the different medical problems that I have...I am sooooo sick of being sick....LOL

Al, No, I am not on Coumadin as of yet, although they have me take an aspirin on a daily basis (I didn't know until recently that they did this for the blood thinning)  :D

Anyway, thanks for listening and the support and just as soon as I know more, you will know more. Harrybaby666

Just try to relax, honey. You have been through this before. You know what to expect. Ignore the whatifs that are running through your head. Think happy thougts, think about after and what you will be doing the next day. Take it easy. It makes things seem worse thinking about whatifs. Please, relax. Stressing never helps, you know. Don't worry, be happy. Try anyway.

Try not to dwell on the upcoming cath Harry
(Yeah RIGHT, I know).

You may want to ask your cardio about stopping your aspirin, at least on the day of the cath, and perhaps a day or two before. I really don't know what the protocol is for this.

Harry,
I'll echo what Al says. If you're taking aspirin, you need to stop taking it. That's one thing they made sure I did before my last cath.

Hang in there. This will be over soon, and you'll be feeling much better!

(I checked my crystal ball)

I'm praying they don't find anything, but if they do, I'm sure they are going to do their best to fix you. This may mean stenting, but if that's all it takes, then by yiminee go for it. I wouldn't mind riding the scooter alone if you can get fixed. ;)

I have this distinct feeling that if they have to do whatever they have to do, that they will do it right then and there, unless of course it requires cracking open my chest. Tell Me Ross, Do you ever get to feeling like your "sick of being sick" like I do? I just get tired of dealing with these multiple problems...And don't worry, we will be clothslining insolent scooter drivers in no time..LOL Harrybaby

But I wonder why the doc didn't ask me to stop taking it??? Harrybaby

Yes my friend, I do! I try so hard to maintain some sense of humor and not think about these things so much, but in all truthfulness, I've found that not being able to do things that I could do last year and ongoing onslaughts, I'm finding myself really thinking I'm so tired of it all and just want it to end. Wrong way to think, I know, but it does beat you down regardless of what others tell you.

He probably didn't even think about whether you were taking it Harry.
Call the office and ask them if they don't want you to stop taking it.

Wishing the best outcome for you Harry, love the pup

Wishing you the best tomorrow Harry. I'll be saying some prayers for you. And I can certainly relate to being sick and tired of being sick and tired. (My favorite phrase when I'd whine 14 years ago.)

One day to go!

One day to go!

Hi there Harry, just want you to know that I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I know it's not easy to relax at this point, but try to, please! I'm sure your doctor will be able to take good care of you whatever he finds out, and if it actually comes to you needing surgery, we'll be right here for you to give you all the courage you'll need. Hopefully though, things will be fine and he'll be able to put your mind at ease. Take care my friend!
