Whatever you guys decide is fine with me as I live only about 60 miles from the city. I have to admit that it is a pretty time there in Oct. Your right Paul and Les GO CUBS. This is our year. You guys know any other women that would rather watch every pitch of a baseball game then go shopping? Actually this is another team Paul might be familiar with GO DEPAUL BLUE DEMONS. My daughter plays softball for them.

Greetings from Chicagoland

Greetings from Chicagoland

It looks like the Chicago Reunion in October is shaping up real fine with well over 20 people thus far expressing positive interest.

This is exciting and I'm really looking forward to meeting some new and old heart buddies this fall. I hope we will also get an "international" presence? (Mr. Billy?) So far you're all coming from coast to coast.

I know that Gina is going to do her best to get the best hotel rate she can muster and Lorraine and I will do our part on the committee to make the Reunion very memorable for all.

Please keep watch for more details in the near future. There will likely be many Reunion information threads. Hopefully soon we can all "ink" the October date in our calendars.

See ya soon,

Hey Everyone,

The more I follow this thread, October is looking better and better.

You are right Steve, once a Chicagoan always a Chicagoan!:D I grew up right in the downtown area until I was nine. Lived at Dearborn and Ohio. It's a parking lot now! Then lived at Shakespeare and Damen until I was twelve. Then we moved to Suburbia! Chicago IS my kind of town! Always was and always will be!

Peggy, Blue Demons? Never heard of them. HA! HA! Only everyday! The University emails us time they play and lets us know who won!

GO! CUBS! YEAH! I have watched the CUBS since I was a wee one! Didn't go to my first game until 1969 though! Billy Williams, Ron Santo, Ernie Banks Dwayne Hickman to name a few. Use to remember the whole linup! Must be that pumpheadedness! :D

Paul, Wow! Oak Street Beach! My old stomping grounds! All summer long we were either at Oak Street Beach or North Avenue Beach! And let us not forget Linclon Park! As kids we always tried to see if we could get up on Linclons Chair!

I too am looking forward to to meeting old and new heart buddies!

Seriousely though. Perry, Gina and I will try to make it memorable! After all, we want to show off OUR TOWN!

Heh...I am the biggest CUBS (and Chevy Monte Carlo) fan...NOBODY is more of a Cubs fan than me ;). Er, except maybe my departed grandmother (died Oct 28 '02).

As for the World Series at Wrigley Field in October....I'm gonna wait and see....BUT....perfect timing for the reunion ;).

Dear Grandmother - your humble opinion is always correct, as shown in the case of your brand new little one. Congratulations and happy you finally got to meet him.

Cub Fans?

Cub Fans?

Hey Cort - I can name another Cub super-fan. My grandfather! I remember well how he and my grandmother moved from the west side to Addison and Pine Grove Street, so he could walk to the games. He was retired by then and didn't drive much, so he wanted to live close to the park. His other trick was to get friendly with the ushers so he could buy bleacher tickets and go sit in the boxes! Well done, Papa John! (He's been gone a long time now, but the stories live on.)

My mother now keeps the watch for him. She is retired (for the second time) but still watches or listens to every game.

Cubbies! Yeah!

BTW, Before Harry Caray, I still remember Jack Brickhouse and Vince Lloyd, now there was a team -- the Cubs and the boys in the radio box!

New Dates

New Dates

Just got the announcement. Count me in! May have to drug Rain with valium to get her on the plane but I'll get her there :D

Lorraine and Peggy, Super KUDOS for being such Cubs fans. And, yes, the '69 Cubs broke my heart. I should have known, though. I played college baseball and on Opening Day of that season I snuck a transistor radio into the game. Cubbies won in extra innings. I ran out to my position (left field) and promptly fractured my leg while colliding with the center fielder. :(

And yes, Peg, I loved the Blue Demons. Used to go to some basketabll games. Ray Meyer was the best.

Steve, so glad you just posted that you're a Cubs fan. Was concerned that you might be a fan of that minor league team from the South Side (I forget their name plus I can't say it anyways). Vince Lloyd, wow are we showing our age!

Cort, are you sure you're the world's biggest fan? What if you had to decide between going to a Cubs game and a Monte Carlo show where you were allowed to drive every single car in the place? ;)

Paul

he he he he....

Steve...I'd love to live that close to Wrigley Field ;). Your Mom seems to be the way my Grandmother was....always watching or listening to the games! I remember Jack and Vince...to some extent, anyway. I believe my favorite is Dewayne Staats....he and Stoney (Steve Stone for those of you not in the know) were great together during the middle 3 innings when Staats and Caray switched TV to radio, etc. I'm so glad Steve Stone is back this year.....

Paul...yes, I am the biggest fan....b/c I'd drive those Monte Carlos to Wrigley Field ;).
