I sincerely hope Kevin recovers quickly. I had A-fib and an enormous amount of back pain. :( I was told, the back pain is due to the muscles being stretched during surgery. The best things that helped (besides the pain meds) were heat and a gentle massage. You, Kevin and the rest of your family are in my prayers.

I'm sorry to read of all that's going on. I know how tough it is when emergencies pop up in the wee hours of the morning when you have little ones at home. Even though you don't have a lot of family close, try to make arrangements with a close neighbor or friend for when situations like this arise. I lived for many years away from family, and several times had to call on a friend at 3 am to stay with my kids while I took another to the hospital. And while it seems like a big inconvenience as you contemplate waking a neighbor/friend at 3AM, it is not. I would't hesitate to do it for someone else, and I am sure your friends would WANT to help you out during these emergencies. Take care, I hope things are improving.

Even though many of us have experienced the same thing, it's still not the same when it's you or your loved one. Hopefully Kevin is home by now. Let us know.

Janene,

Very sorry for all that you and Kevin have had to handle....

I hope things are going okay. Getting a little worried since we haven't heard.

I had my one & only bout with Afib 2 days after I left the hospital. I didn't even know what it was till days later when someone on this board explained it to me. It stopped as quickly as it came, and just as mysteriously. I must say it was no fun while I had it. I never had anything that uncomfortable disappear so quickly. I hope you have already gotten the same relief.

Hang In There!

Hang In There!

Janene,

Hopefully, things have settled by the time I post this. Hang in there and keep that positive energy flowing to Kevin. You've got a great support group here and from the sounds of it; great family support on site. Don't hesitate to take advantage of that support. Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

Janene,
I am so sorry....I can hear the panic in your words.
I am 3 mos. post Ascending Aortic Replacement. I had 2 scares with A-fib. The first one was in the hospital but the second one was about 2 1/2 weeks after I was home. It was very scary indeed, but so very common as I understand. It very easily converted with medication and I carry it with me now, in case it should happen again...it hasn't.
I personally gave up all caffeine until recently...I don't know if it triggered the a-fib, but it did make my heart beat faster which I didn't like.
I am still understanding how much trauma my heart has endured and how it really needs major time to heal and get over the trauma.
Try to hang in there....I promise it will get better...but it is scary as all get out to both your husband and everyone involved.
My prayers are with you!
Linda D.

We are all of us hoping Kevin is better...

We are all of us hoping Kevin is better...

How is Kevin doing? We hope everything has smoothed out. That symptom of nausiousness worried me.

But, I got to thinking about the sick cat too -- I wonder if Kevin was in the hospital when all of that catfood was recalled?!?

Janene, search Small Talk for a post about an enormous pet food recall that occurred recently, or search the web for the current list. It is a very serious pet food recall with a really bad (fatality causing) toxin that is in the wheat gluten shipped here from China which is in a lot of the canned and dry pet foods, for both dogs and cats.

Just adding our prayers, too...............

I love you people ...

I love you people ...

Seriously. You people are great. Your answers here ... reading your excellent replies, your knowledgeable insights and your sincere concern for others lifts my ticking little heart.

I'm fairly new to this community, but intend to stick around. In reality, we area all separated by so many things: geography, religion, politics ... yet, it is so easy to feel pretty darn close to all of you.

OK ... I'm going to bed!

Thank you all!

Thank you all!

You are truly the kindest, most understanding people....
I cannot believe that some of you live with a fib for years! I cannot imagine! I will post a new thread to give you an update on the hubby!
Janene:)
